Just in case anyone was in any doubt about Ofcon's provenance as an organisation to be taken seriously...

So much for freedom of speech
Check out Legs and Co dancing to Maid In Heaven by Be Bop Deluxe on Top Of The Pops from November 76 on YouTube, Legs and Co were one reason TOTP was always essential viewing, plus Be Bop Deluxe were such a cool band, powerpop proggy rock at it's best!

And Bill Nelson from Be Bop Deluxe is doing My 70s on Johnnie Walker's Sounds Of The 70s next Sunday afternoon 3 to 5pm on BBC Radio Two!

Check this out about Ofcon. I've met with some of them at their £150 million office next to the Thames. A bigger bunch of plonkers you will struggle to find, trust me... They're more like Orwell's Ministry of Information by the day. However, the game will soon be well and truly up for them. Don't ask me how I know, but I do!!

I'd dearly love to believe you but where did you get your information from, an end to Ofcom and censorship would be a dream come true, I have the champagne at the ready if ever this corrupt organization was brought down to it's knees. Here's hoping your right.
Nothing shocks me about Ofcon or their predecessors having dealt with them, the Radio Authority and in the DTI in various broadcasting matters over the years and one DTI radio situation from 1989 making Ofcom look like pussycats which the DTI got away with despite weapons being used by them - honest

Maybe Ofcons days are numbered but that doesnt mean what replaces them will be an improvement or better or more transparent, been in broadcasting too long too realise that and their just another part of a bad bunch.

Hi Ron, well this is the best positive news I've heard about Ofcom, I noticed you said soon the game will be up? Far be it from me to put you in a difficult position, when you mean soon, do you mean within a year from now?
You might be laughing to yourself thinking I'm fishing for a bit more info, and I'll be honest with Ron I am lol. I can quite understand you not wanting to say anymore at this moment, but you can understand my curiosity.
Ofcom arent making life easy for themselves. In the past week they have taken on the PLO, Yemini freedom fighters/terrorists (depending on your viewpoint) and now the Iranian government, sorry, independent media outlet that just happens to be government funded.

Actually its not as bad as it looks. The Iranians shouldnt be a problem, it lets them look like victims. The Yeminis got their message across and probably regard it as water under the bridge. The PLO? Who knows, I lose track of which is the Good PLO and which the Bad PLO. Besides arent they releasing a prisoner?

Ofcom should be safe as long as they dont tackle Russia.
But the bottom line is it isn't Ofcom's job to be making decisions purely out of a political situation, they are getting way too big for their boots now and should not be getting themselves involved with anything so deep, wasn't David Cameron on record as saying that it isn't Ofcom's job or duty to be involved in policy making, well if that's not policy making I don't know what the fuck is bladewave Furthermore Ofcom could in turn be responsible for causing political tension and could perhaps incite a Civil War or god forbid another World War, Ofcom are making this country a very dangerous place to live in now and should be abolished with immediate effect.
Thats a good point. Im assuming you a referring to the Yemini (Somali? Excuse my ignorance, its late) dissidents. For anyone who has not read the reams of self justifying garbage that Ofcom published, dissidents in Yemen or Somalia managed to transmit songs calling for patriotic struggle and more over messages on a UK based Arab TV channel. Ofcom made noises about freedom of speech comes with responsibility. I lost consciousness part way through their write up, but suspect they either say a TV channel must remain neutral at all times, or cannot carry political content. If this was World War 2 they would be censuring the BBC for allowing de Gaulle and Sikorski to broadcast anti Nazi speeches. If it were the 1950s they might insist radio and TV give Stalin the right to reply to Churchills Iron Curtain speech. Sometimes its just not realistic to have opposing sides in the same show.
