Although andyjb has just shown you need a license to watch any live tv.

The requirement to have a TV license is nothing whatsoever to do with the BBC channels.

You need a TV license to watch 'live TV' i.e. to watch tv programmes as they are being broadcast, whether you watch them on a television or via the internet.
You may need a tv license even if you don't own a tv. You may need a tv license even if you don't watch or perhaps can't even receive any BBC channels.

Likewise, you can watch all the BBC you like via iPlayer, after it has been broadcast on tv, no license required.
When BBC3 goes net only, watch as much as you like, when you like, no license required.

* For the purposes of the tv license, recording a show to watch later counts the same as actually watching it live.

Daft question here but my recordings of Rita Ora, Charlie XCX and Taylor Swift from BBC iplayer from the Radio 1 Big Weekend have all vanished from my SKY Planner despite me putting a lock of them with the keep button and I definitely never deleted them myself, can the BBC automatically remove content from your SKY Planner without warning

i think recordings from the iplayer only last 1 week and then they remove themselves.

I can't believe these shitheads at the BBC could do that Rita Ora was outstanding too and I can't find her performance from the weekend anywhere else.

Well at least next time I'll know so that I can transfer the recording to DVD. That is unless the BBC have also blocked that too
