If it's a number you don't recognise, count to 15 before you answer. If it's still ringing, it's likely a genuine call.

Cold callers, especially the computer generated ones, are on a timer so they don't waste their Rolleyes time, and will have rung off by then.

Two or three no-answers to the same cold caller and your number gets taken off their database (again, they don't like to waste their time)

I've practically eradicated cold callers from my mobile with this method. And I used to get a shitload, because everybody and his dog seems to have my number after 10 years of not using the landline bladewave

I give callers 5 secs to answer, but if clicks in and you hear background noise then you know it is a call centre so I put the phone down, equally if a recorded call comes on, we just put the phone down. It is a waste of time and very annoying. The Microsoft one is one and the best way to deal with that is either say you don't have a computer any more or reverse everything they say. For example " I want you to open your Windows" "No, it's cold out " "No, open my documents" "I can't see your documents" and so on.Big Grin
^ I answered a few with "Metropolitan Police Fraud Squad" which amused me as they put the phone down sharpish but not my mum when she rang Bounce

It doesn't matter if you put the phone down. If you answer at all they know it's a live number and they'll keep coming back.

These scam callers are such a pain.
Disreputable, greedy good for nothings exploiting the vulnerable. Scum of the earth.
The TPS is an absolute waste of time...completely useless. Seems they can only take action against registered, traceable and easily accessible businesses (the ones who aren’t the problem). Despite their name, the TPS are unable to access company details or trace numbers from the rogues.

Time to lobby MPs to shut down this useless sack of shit organisation. In the meantime, I can recommend investing in a BT call guardian system which will save a load of grief. Since I got one, the peace and quiet is brilliant. No more gobshites phoning at all hours!
Better Still...Lobby MP's & fill up BJ's email inbox with messages requesting action - he'll soon have to realise there is a serious scam problem that has gone unaddressed properly and needs to be tackled by an organisation with real powers!!
There are times when I think the Police fraud squad can only go so far.
Was the TPS set up by thr Tories or Labour?

I think even if you go ex directory they can still get hold of your number as well I believe...
A friend of my mother's rang up directly after a cold call and she snapped and told the caller to 'bog off' she then rang back and my mother apologised but she saw the funny side of it.
I’ll keep this short...sweet...and to the point.

STOP FUCKING RAINING!!!!!
