Keep strong mate, and we're all with you if you need strength and support
I've got a good idea who should win the award for "Most Threads obsessing about Awards for No Good Reason in 2020" Wink
^hope you're not thinking about me mate Smile
Yet again my father(who is in his late 80's) got another scam call from someone pretending to be the police-last year he nearly gave out details to someone who purported to be calling from Scotland Yard, and we ended up getting the real police round to report it, but today he was told that his card had been used by two felons who had been arrested. She asked him for his name and then asked again when he spelled it out(I have since told him to make up a name) and then wanted him to give her the long number on the back of his credit card. He said not over the phone and then she asked for the security number as well, again he said not over the phone. He asked her a question which she went silent at and then it clicked off. It makes my blood boil that vulnerable people could be taken in by these people. Luckily I was around to help him. He won't get caught like that again.annoyedannoyedannoyedannoyedannoyed
These scam callers are such a pain.
Disreputable, greedy good for nothings exploiting the vulnerable. Scum of the earth.
More news he was having need the machine to help him breath, he can mostly breath on his own with tubes directly in his throat. He can’t talk or move but his are now open. I was told he remembers and recognises people but then after a while he doesn’t recognise anyone and reverts to a child like state. Time will tell how bad the brain damage is.

I will say this :- the Govt NOW needs to come up with a far better Telephone Preference Service than the one currently in existence that actually does have real teeth to protect people from these calls.

The TPS is an absolute waste of time...completely useless. Seems they can only take action against registered, traceable and easily accessible businesses (the ones who aren’t the problem). Despite their name, the TPS are unable to access company details or trace numbers from the rogues.

Time to lobby MPs to shut down this useless sack of shit organisation. In the meantime, I can recommend investing in a BT call guardian system which will save a load of grief. Since I got one, the peace and quiet is brilliant. No more gobshites phoning at all hours!
We've got some other service that monitors calls and we get less than we used to get, however some do slip through the net but these police calls are definitely scams. Most major organisations will NEVER call you and will never ask for credit card details. It is very easy to scam vulnerable pensioners but my Dad isn't that bad and he has me to advise him but others do get caught. I agree these people are the scum of the earth -some calls are recorded on tape and those we always put the phone down on.
