So in that sense, Wozniacki needs to be like 'stickability Selby'. Big Grin

Aaaaahhh yes the flawed genius concept Wink.
Good point well made.
So in the end it was all a bit of a damp squib and Serena sauntered to a straightforward victory in straight sets.
Poor Caroline never really got into the match and Serena barely had to get out of 3rd gear to get the job done.
All rather deflating and non descript as a contest.

Without doubt the Slam final of the year was the French Open one where Sharapova won an absolute classic.
This US Open final will not live in the memory for very long.
This being said Serena has claimed her 18th slam and has closed the gap on top spot in the Grand Slam victories league table.
For Wozniacki this was the wrong opponent at the wrong time.
A bridge too far.
First set had a lot of breaks, Serena getting the best of it 3 breaks to 2 winning set 6-3, both were better second set with only one break until Serena broke again to end the match 6-3, 6-3

Serena joins Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova with 18 Grand Slams 4 behind Steffi Graf and 6 behind Margaret Court
I think Serena looked to end points quickly and just never allowed Wozniacki any rhythm in the match. In my eyes Serena is the greatest, and has been for some time, she's played in a more competitive era and has had to overcome serious injury and ill health on many occasions. If only we could have seen Serena vs Steffi, sadly they are from two different eras though.
Looking forward to Nishikori v Cilic tonight.
Could be a very intriguing match.
Hard to know whats going to happen.
I can't wait until serena retires, womans tennis would be so much more interesting.
Ross Hutchins has announced his retirement from professional tennis and will concentrate on being a tournament director which he started doing at Queens Club this year.
