Interesting decision by USA to turn a corner of San Diego's baseball stadium Petco Park into a clay court arena for the Davis Cup tie against GB.

Tie is live on BBC Three from 7pm

Wow what a match James Ward puts GB 2-0 up with five set thriller 1-6 7-6 3-6 6-4 6-1over Sam Querrey

James Ward showed great determination and composure to come back and win in 5 sets.
Fair play to him.

Querrey had served great for 3 and a bit sets, Ward had no break points to that point then Querrey just imploded on serve and Ward took full advantage.

Will be interesting to see if Murray will be rested for doubles against Bryan brothers and Dominic Inglot partners Colin Fleming

Great Britain into the Quarter Finals of the Davis Cup after a gutsy four set win for Andy Murray over an inspired Sam Querrey 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 6-1 6-3.
Great Britain now move on to an away tie against Italy.

A great result, fair play to Murray for taking part. I remember reading McEnroe's book, and he saw the Davis Cup as being as important as the Grand Slams (although I guess it's different if you're that good). It's nice not to have to read miserable news items about how we're in the basement divisions playing the dregs of the world.

Women's Fed Cup team beat Lativia 2-1 in 1st round robin match in Hungary today. The winner of group goes onto World Group 2 play off

Sadly GB went on to lose to Romania 2-1 and more disappointingly Hungary 2-1 where Jo Konya served for match at 6-5 in second set but was broken and was 5-1 in 2nd set tie break before eventually losing 6 points in a row to lose it & the match in 3rd set. Was good week for Heather Watson though 3 singles wins including win over Cirstea who is ranked 26 in world
