Huge credit to Nishikori. He's showing the kind of promise he displayed when he beat Roddick at Wimbledon a few years ago. Wawrinka has struggled a little since his win in Melbourne, I'm sure he'll bounce back though. Should be an exciting final few days for both the men and women. Smile
Federer saved 2 match points in 4th set to come back from 2 sets down to win in 5 sets against Monfils to set up semi final with Cilic.

Hoping Wozniacki beats Peng and gets to her second US Open final where Serena probably will be opponent unless Marakova can continue her giant killing form

The match between Nishikori and Wawrinka was a classic.
Some of the ball striking was just immense.
Nishikori had always looked suspect in the five set format previously but held up really well to beat Australian Open champion Wawrinka.
Nishikori's having his best year yet - won a title in Barcelona on clay earlier in the year and is the only Japanese man, ever, to have broken in to the world's top ten. Got to look at the influence of his coach, Michael Chang. Former world number two and one of the best marathon match fighters of all time on the tour. Wawrinka let it slip but hats off to Nishikori, been very impressed. Whatever happens against Djokovic, he's won respect during this tournament.
Ah yes Michael Chang.
King of the five set epics Big Grin.
Some of his battles down the years would put even the current crop to shame Wink.
Damned fine player too.
Good points Snookered and Regenerated. I think both semis are far from a foregone conclusion: Cilic certainly has the weapons to hurt Federer and Nishikori's confidence will be sky-high going into his match with Novak. How do you see the women's semis panning out?

Glorious failure by Wozniacki against Serena in the final.
Well Makarova has beaten Serena before in a major but has an overall losing record against the American defending champion. Makarova at her best could give Serena some problems and with Serena it is all about not self destructing as she often has in the past.
Wozniacki should beat Peng fairly comfortably imo but you just never know in professional sport.
The Dane has had a good year and it has got better after the split with a certain golfer.
Funny how both parties have played so well in their respective sports since the break up Blush.

Overall I expect a Williams v Wozniacki final but who knows............. Shy.
I want Wozniacki to win but aslong as it's not Serena I'm happy..

In that case I worry for your state of happiness Wink
