Djokovic's lawyers have started an urgent appeal, but unfortunately for him Australian rules on entry in to the country have been very clear throughout the pandemic. PM Scott Morrison has insisted that no-one is above the rules and the country has pursued a hard line on border control to curb the spread, which has largely worked.

In other news, Great Britain defeated United States 2-1 in the ATP Cup group stage:-

Dan Evans beat John Isner 6-4, 7-6;
Taylor Fritz beat Cameron Norrie 7-6, 3-6, 6-1;
Jamie Murray & Evans then beat Isner and Fritz 6-7, 7-5, 10-8

EDIT: re: Djokovic - his appeal has now been adjourned until Monday and he will remain in quarantine in a government backed hotel.
REG
Sucess % of appeal?
Djokovic won't be happy being kept in a detention hotel.
If it doesn't have five stars he gives them a miss.

This is a pivotal time for sports stars like Novak.
If he isn't allowed to play in this match it's probable that he won't be allowed to play in France as well.

He should either take the jab or retire.
Novak Djokovic acting like a wanker? Well there's a surprise.
^ Seems his wife has in the past claimed on her Instagram that the virus is caused by 5g masts Surprised

looks like Charle's prediction of not being able to play in French open might be coming true new rules likely being brought in requiring players to be vaccinated Did Tennis Australia set a precedent?

Let us hope so!! I always backed up Djoko when people were on his case for not being the 'personality' they thought he should be. He always seemed to be a decent pleasant guy who just didn't play the media game. Good on him for that!! Now though, he is just being a complete 'tool' - thinking he is too important/good to follow rules he knew damn well were there before arriving down under.

All this garbage about being in a 'prison'. The true prisoners are those that have been battling covid - either as patients with it, or medical personnel dealing with it and the families bereaved by it!! I don't think - (although fickle 'groupie' wanna be's who follow the like of Djoko - beyond just supporting him on court I mean will be the exception with their short memories ) - he will easily be forgiven for this!!
The Australian authorities have confirmed he is not a prisoner. Indeed they say he is free to leave at any time. The Australian Border Force will provide an escort back to the airport for him Bounce
