BBC Alba did a prog on Elena Baltacha. Funny, I sort of remember her dad moving from Dynamo Kiev to Ipswich, but I wouldn't have assumed any connection before seeing this. An ultimately sad story of a defiant & great player who suffered some liver disease and then eventually cancer. 6 years since she died. Sad
When she passed away she was pretty much at the top of her game and slowly progressing through the ranks. She was highly thought of
Yeah her father was Sergei who also played for St Johnstone.

She has a foundation that she started with her late husband before her death that continues to this day that allows children to get into and play tennis
GB through group stage of ATP Cup which looks amazingly similar to the Davis Cup and who haven't learned from its mistakes and have matches finishing at 2.47am in front of 150 people
