Was amused to see Celtic drawn against Shakhter Karagandy yesterday, a team I'd never heard of before Tongue

Really? They are quite a big team from Scotland Big Grin
You lot ready for losing on Weds Wink
Tonights final score from Wembley ended England 3 - Scotland 2

First off let me just say how proud and equally gutted I am after tonights game. I thought that the dream might have been on and make no mistake about it this was anything but a friendly with bragging rights at stake here.

Before the game England were ranked at 7 in the latest Fifa standings with Scotland at a lowly 77. These statistics counted for nothing tonight as Scotland proved that they were far better than there latest Fifa rankings would have you believe.

I thought from the word go that we got right at the English, Scotland are famous for putting on massive performances when up against better opposition. My hope from this is that Scotland carries the same attitude in every game irrespective of the opposition. We struggle to beat minnows yet we beat or get damn close to winning when on paper we look odd's on for a thrashing.

Tonight the team and the supporters were well up for the match, I pissed myself laughing when the customary national anthems were played before kick off with us Scot's belting out Flower Of Scotland which was completely out of time with the pipers followed by the jeers when God Save The Queen was played laugh

I sincerely hope that this fixture is brought back on a permanent basis as it was marvelous entertainment from start to finish, any neutral watching this must have enjoyed this as a great spectacle which had more of a meaning to it than the usual fare you see in a friendly Cool

Once again - Well done Scotland - You did the whole nation proud and showed us all that you can more than compete at the top level again Smile
have to say was a great game

we should definately have the game more often the first game of the 21st century and its 13 years in is a disgrace
I would go the whole hog and bring back the home internationals it would be a good breeding tournament for younger players but only allow three over age players in the teams for experience. to be honest it would benefit Scotland wales and Northern Ireland a lot having a it as they can help produce future talent. I think Scotland played a lot better at times than England did. Scotland kept going forward and kept England on their toes. A big well done to NI Ireland for beating Russia last night which probably opens up their group a little.

I hope the press in Scotland haven't been too harsh on them this morning!1 Scotland pushed England all the way and to be honest, at times England I felt played to predictably and flat and almost played into Scotland's hands. If England hadn't won I think a draw would have been a fair result.
