That being said- Craig Thomson is nothing but a cheat. He's done it on countless occasions to Hibs. Black's "challenge" on Griffiths after 5 minutes was a disgrace and should have been a straight red. None of this pish about "earlys doors, doesn't want to start waving cards on such a heated game " He's elbowed the laddie strongly in the temple in mid air. Thomson thought that a quick word in his ear would be sufficient. Minutes later and he's booked Kujabi for a clumsy challenge. Skacel makes an equally clumsy challenge and yup, you guessed it, just a quick word and carry on. The penalty incident was a joke. Kujabi's had a mare, but he's clearly tugged him outside the box. Thomson couldn't point to the spot any quicker. Consulted with his linesman AFTER pointing for a penalty.
He never should have been appointed in the first place. He's a known Hearts fan and had a season ticket at Tynecastle for years. Add to that, he wouldn't have had the final in the first place. It was due to be Callum Murray. Thomson's final high profile match of the season was supposed to be the last OF derby. Thomson pulled out, citing "personal reasons". That snivelling little cheat knew fine well that he would be given the final and typically the SFA don't even think of the ramifications of such an appointment.
Hibs were shite, and Hearts deserved their victory. But would it have been the case if Hearts were a man down, Hibs had 11 on the field and Hearts never got their "penalty"....I highly doubt it.
One thing's for sure, next time he's at Easter Road to "referee" a match, he'll get absolute dogs abuse.
The subject about which team the referee supports or has done in the past has allways been a controversal subject for debate. The thing is we allways ask for honesty in the game but never get it, even the best referee in the world would find it hard not to be biased when it came to important decisions if he has an allegiance to one of the teams. Craig Thomson if he is infact a Hearts fan then he should never ever have been allowed to referee any games involving Hearts nevermind a national cup final.
Mike Mccurry is a name which us Dundee United fans know all too well as he too is a self confessed Rangers fan and in the League Cup Final 2008 yet again we had a simlilar situation to Craig Thomson as he gave every decision against my team and what hurt me more on the day was that Dundee United were the best team on the park that day amd he denied us a stonewall penalty that day which would have sealed our victory.
As it turned out we lost to Rangers after Extra Time and then the all crucial penalty shoot out. I was proud of my team that day they gave their all but when the ref is a hun you just know that you are doomed from the start.

it maybe time for rangers to be liquidated and start as new in division 3 to earn their spl place back. fiorentina did it under the new name of Associazione Calcio Fiorentina e Florentia Viola starting in serie c2 (forth tier of italian football) after going bankrupt and had their membership cancelled. in 2003 they bought the back the original name and official kit. now they are acf fiorentina. rangers need the right owner, manager and should think about having an all scottish playing squad and the players coming from their youth team. it would be good for the scottish game.
Its been a while since I last commented on this subject but ofcourse the only news that has dominated the Scottish papers up here is the Rangers fiasco. So as we all know now the club will be officially liquidated tommorow and will have to reform as a newco which they will call themselves The Rangers Football club so effectively they'll still be known as Rangers. Now what the bigger issue of concern here is which way the SPL chairmen will vote.
As a Dundee United supporter I sincerely hope that they get hammered for all their worth, even if it means relegation to the 3rd division because that way it would send out a clear signal that irrespective of who you are you will be dealt with accordingly and this will show that we mean business.
What I find as a blatant insult is that SKY are threatening to pull the 110 million pound TV deal plug on Scottish football if the gers are not voted back into the SPL. This is sending out the wrong message here as they are more or less saying that Rangers and Celtic can never be relegated or even be allowed to both be in the bottom 6 because SKY expect to air at least 4 old firm matchs a season and are more or less saying that the rest of the Scottish teams are not worth investing in.
Well I say a big fuck you to SKY, who are they to hold the gun against our head, since when did a TV company dictate to us how we run our game up here. As Jim Mclean stated in the Daily Record on Friday Scottish football and all football is now becoming nothing more than a gameshow, the fact that the referee has to get the signal from the producer to start the game is laughable.
I remember a time when all the games would kick off at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and we were all perfectly happy back then to watch the highlights on a Saturday night with only really the big games being filmed live such as European or Cup Games.
SKY pulling out of Scottish football could actually be a blessing in disguise because maybe that way we might just go back to a level playing field again when teams like my Dundee United side, Aberdeen and Hearts all had a realistic chance of winning the league before this old firm monopoly kicked in.
I say kick Rangers out of the league all the way to the 3rd. I also have no sympathy for them either because I remember a time when both them and Celtic wanted to join the English Premiership because they reckoned they were too good for our league. So I say good riddence to the Rangers as they alongside Celtic didn't give 2 shits about Scottish football so why should we give a shit about them.
Shouldn't Rangers start off from the very bottom of Scottish football if a brand new Rangers club is being formed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't that happen to Gretna, when they got into financial trouble
To know that 20 years ago my team got chucked out the football league without fulfilling their fixtures because they had a debt of under £500,000 , yet Rangers, Portsmouth, and Plymouth to name but 3 have been allowed to continue as nothing has happened is nothing short of a fucking farce!
Rangers should be chucked out the league and made to start again. No excuses. Scottish football might not get the financial backing from Sky, but then who really does outside the Premier League ? No one. Look at the English game now, teams starting out to finish 4th place. It's embarrassing to say the least. Teams in the top flight fielding weakened sides in cup competitions because they care more about Premier Greed status then cup glory.
Like you say, maybe Scottish football will become more of an even playing field over the years. Who knows, but it is criminal that Rangers can be allowed to start again just like that!
Does the football authorities not give a fuck about the money owed to local business's and the like who pump money into these clubs in good faith, only to be given 2p to the £1 back. Fucking cunts and crooks!!
Yes the very notion that Rangers think they should be allowed to just waltz straight back into the SPL as if nothing has happened is an utter disgrace.
I remember thinking 10 years ago when Rangers signed Tore Andre Flo for 11 million pounds aswell as half the Dutch team just where the fuck are they getting the money from whilst my Dundee United team had to struggle with the basic resources which we had available.
Sure they won all these trophies, but who wouldn't with all those international players. Dick Advocaat at the time was hailed as some kind of hero but in fairness despite all the signings they still did hey ho in Europe which effectively was what Rangers were gambling on.
As for SKY stick your money right up your arse, we'll start up our own TV Channel instead. I hope when the time comes to vote that the chairman vote with their heart instead of the money signs dangling in front of their eyes.
Aberdeen fans for example have allready threatened not to renew their season tickets if a newco Rangers is allowed back in, time the chairman started to listen to the fans instead as they are way more important than the TV companies who will come and go whilst fans generally commit themselves to the club for life.
