I'm sorry but I'd have to class that as an ignorant point of view. In the last match that Scotland played they fielded 6 players from the Premier League and 1 from the Scottish Premier League. So on paper they have a half decent side and are not on a par with San Marino who only have 1 professional player who plays in the Italian third divison. The cold hard fact of the matter is that with the right management Scotland have the players to be doing better than they curently are.
If you read carefully it says 'one step away from ..'
6 players in a league containing over 400 players all of whom are top internationals WOW!
Shame their fans overshadowed Celtics victory with their anti Poppy banner
East Stirlingshire won 2-1 against promotion-chasing Queens Park last night to move up to the giddy heights of 8th place Tongue (although looking at the table, with the probable exception of Stirling, the whole division could be classed as "promotion-chasing". Good ol' Rangers, huh? Tongue )
I see new developments have taken place on the subject of league reconstruction.

30 Scottish Football League clubs have unanimously voted to propose a new three-tier league structure of 16, 10 and 16 teams for season 2014-15.

For me I think it would be great idea and I fully support it. It finally gives clubs outwith the top flight some hope of getting there. Also I'd imagine it will draw the fans in too now that there would be more to play for.

Only 10 clubs in the middle division? That's odd.
When I was younger, I advocated that the then-system of 4x10 was silly and it should be 2x20, possibly with the Highland League used as well. Imagine how I felt when I found this was the case before the bloody Premier Division started up.

This is just a complete stitch-up to enable Rangers to get back to the top table sooner Sad
Yes I agree that you'd have to be pretty naive not to concede that getting Rangers back to the top flight sooner isn't part of the motive. I mean up until to the Rangers crisis the SPL was pretty much a closed door and if I remember rightly a very similar proposal was issued out back in the summer provided that Rangers got fast tracked into the 1st division which was overwhelmingly rejected.

I make no bones that this latest proposal probably has an agenda but taking all into account, in the long run I think it's a fantastic idea and could save our game up here which at present has declining standards, finances and attendances. I 100% give this latest idea my full backing.

The good thing too is with a 16 team top division it really gives your club a bit more breathing space. At the start of this season every club outwith Celtic would have had the word relegation at the back of their mind and to ensure they don't get embroiled in such a battle.

As a Dundee United fan I remember up until recently that it used to be an annual struggle for us and let me tell you the state of Dundee United has caused me to have many a sleepless night in the past. Call it PMS. Pre Match Stress Wink

A 16 team top league will benefit everybody. Also if your team does get relegated then it won't be the end of the world with the odds of a quick return very high I'd imagine.
East Stirlingshire managed to score twice at home against Rangers. Anyway, moving on...

Wouldn't you know it? All Hibernian had to do to keep ahead of Celtic was beat bottom-of-the-table Dundee! The best laid plans, eh?

In that case the plan will fail, because if you work it out it would still take Rangers a minimum of 3 years to return to the top division, as the proposals wouldn't take effect next season, even if they were to be approved. So it's not much help to Rangers really. Besides, if the SFL want to help Rangers get back to the top table why didn't they simply vote to let them play in Division 1 instead of Division 3, as was proposed?
