Getting back to the ongoing Rangers (Newco) situation, the latest information we have now is that the vote whether to admit them back into the SPL will take place on the 4th July.

They will need 8 for Yes to be successful. Both Hib's and Hearts have confirmed they will be voting no. Motherwell are considering a fans ballet and Aberdeen are also going to consult the fans too.

What is presently going against a newco Rangers is the fact that a lot of fans are refusing to buy season tickets if they are allowed back in.

I've also spoken to a few Rangers supporters and a lot of them are also saying they'd rather start from scratch again.

I have a hunch that they will probably not get the required 8 Yes votes. However I have a feeling to appease the TV deals that they'll get off lightly by only being demoted to the 1st Division with Dundee being promoted back to the SPL to take their place.

That would be good news for me as I'd be more than delighted to see the return of the Dundee United v Dundee Derby, a fixture in the city that is arguably bigger than any visit by either side of the Old Firm.

One thing that is guaranteed is that there is still going to be a lot of twists and turns before this is all resolved.
What will the SFA do to appease the other First Division clubs?
So judging by the statement on the Hearts website, Mr Romanov hasn't decided if he will vote for Rangers or not...

Quote:Mr Vladimir Romanov today issued the following statement after recent revelations that have had a hugely damaging affect on the game in this country.

"The opinion of Heart of Midlothian FC in regards to the current situation of Scottish football is clear and robust.

"The football mafia represented by former owners of Rangers FC and Rupert Murdoch's media are to blame for some of the worst problems to hit Scottish football and must not be allowed back in under any circumstances.

"As regards the club itself, we can only express our deepest condolences to its supporters, who have been lied to for so many years.

"It had to happen sooner or later. Victories were achieved not by sporting merits, but through slander, conspiracies amongst players and their poaching via third parties, unfair pressuring of referees, who in themselves are as valuable to the fabric of football as the football stars themselves.

"All of this brought hollow victories and destroyed football. We can also mention the attempts to eliminate Hearts with the help of the tax petitions, through false accusations and threats to revoke the club license. There is a saying about digging a grave for someone: you get it for yourself …

"Without these people football will become cleaner and stronger. Without Murdoch the whole of society will improve, in particular sport and culture.

"Supporters deserve a new beginning and have to accept the fact that their club has to start from the lower league, keeping order in the SPL and without creating unfair competition with other clubs.

"As regards the pitiful state of Scottish football finances, a lot of the blame should be placed at the doors of Murdoch's media. They pay huge sums to English clubs, whilst in Scotland, where football is better supported per capita than anywhere else in Europe and there are more cable or Sky subscribers per capita than in England, clubs receive peanuts for their broadcasting rights.

"At the very least this is discrimination and protectionism for the English football product, which at the same time stunts the development of the game in Scotland, that is regarded as the cradle of football.

"I feel that it is absolutely realistic to create a company that would bring to Scottish clubs at least the same broadcasting income, and even grow it by 50-100% over the next two to three years. This company should be in the hands of Scottish clubs and work with those who want to earn money the honest way, instead of conducting business the Murdoch way.

"They have lived beyond law and all morals, and should now be declared beyond the pale. A society that allows the destruction of integrity in sport, which is a crucial part of Scottish culture, is destroying itself - and all for the benefit of a media aborigine."

Cool
The integrity of the league needs to see the newco Rangers demoted. However most of the SPL clubs depend on the visit from Rangers and Celtic to make decent money at the gate and through television rights. Something tells me they will stay in SPL but with a massive points deduction maybe 20
Breaking News on the Rangers fiasco

Dundee United (my team ofcourse) have also gone public with their intention to vote no to Rangers newco. This is my responce Big Laugh

Revenge is so sweet Big Grin
I wonder how Celtic will vote. I know you may think its obvious Celtic will want to send Rangers down considering the fierce rivalry between them. But are Celtic thinking we need these guys to stay, as the matches between these teams generate a lot of money for them
If you want we can relegate Celtic too, afterall they both think they're too good for the SPL.

Hm..............whatever happened to Rangers joining the English Premier league, they can't even get voted into the scottish, nevermind the English Bounce

Dundee United Club Statement in full Big Grin

"Dundee United tonight met with Supporters' groups to discuss the newco situation prior to the all club vote on the proposal to transfer Rangers share on 4th July"

"Following what was a robust and constructive meeting, the Club's position on how we will vote was substantiated by the viewpoint of the various supporters groups. The meeting finished with all in agreement as to what the correct course of action would be"

"The Board of Directors of Dundee United are unequivocal in the belief that a form of sporting punishment must form part of the reasoning behind any decision made and, therefore, cannot vote the newco into the SPL. General sporting integrity and, more importantly, the integrity of Scottish football must also play a significant part in the decision making process. It is our belief that any form of sporting punishment must be unambiguous in the message it displays"

"The financial well being of the Club, both in the short and long term, must also be at the forefront of our thoughts. We would encourage our supporters to purchase season ticket books as a show of support to our Club. The Board of Directors will act in the best interest of Dundee United and our supporters and Scottish football on this matter. The financial consequences of not showing this support for our Club are extremely serious"

where as blackburn only listen to mr kean's bullshit and venky's yes men's chickenshit.

so far dundee utd, aberdeen, motherwell, hibs, hearts are going to vote for rangers (newco) to be in spl, rangers needed 8-4 but having 5 saying no means rangers (newco) have to apply to be in division 3. i think amendents to the rules regarding clubs being liquidate and such should include that the phoenix club/newco will have to start at the bottom of the football ladder and earn its keep. most clubs that have been in administration or newco (like fiorentina) have had success apart from portsmouth which is just a club that has been badly treat by 5owners and 1manager overspending players (the now exspurs manager). the previous board to whyte's ownersship and past managers durinng that period have alot of major questions to answer. yes whyte did not have the funds to carry rangers forward he is not responsible for the whole mess only part of it.

dont think that many of the current rangers players would be at rangers if they have to start from division 3. the best thing for rangers (newco) is build a young squad and rebuild the whole the club from the ground up getting place a proper management and financial structure in place. newco clubs should be made to publish their accounts to the sfa and league and be made public and have to account for every penny and bank account used.
i hate the state of SPL, now it looks like celtic will dominate for many years to come and the other teams cant do nothing about it. What is so wrong with letting celtic enter the english leagues, i mean put them in league 1 to start with and make them earn their way to the PL.

dont know the sporting and financial reprecutions but cant it work?, id like to see hearts, aberdeen, motherwell have their moment in terms of being able to contest the SPL instead of having to settle for a 'scottish cup final' runners up medal all the time.
