Somebody in Nike thinks he's a smart arse!! Maybe the Brazilians will wear our away kit!!
After hearing about Jones's injury last night Hodgson must be sweating that's it's not bad as we fear it is, otherwise he'll have to re think his backline pretty
quickly before Monday.
Roy Hodgson's England squad for the 2014 World Cup.

Joe Hart, Ben Foster, Fraser Forster

Gary Cahill, Phil Jagielka, Ashley Cole, Leighton Baines, Glen Johnson, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling

Steven Gerrard, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere, James Milner, Adam Lallana, Raheem Sterling, Jordan Henderson, Ross Barkley, Frank Lampard

Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck

The final place goes to Kyle Walker, Rickie Lambert or possibly Michael Carrick, depending on the balance of the squad.

Rickie Lambert will need to be added I think, because I'm not sure you can go with only 3 strikers. That would make up the 23. But I wouldn't be surprised if Smalling misses out after having a bad season and someone else gets that place, either Steven Caulker or John Stones.
I doubt Jones will go because of the shoulder injury. Smalling doesn't deserve to be there for me after a poor season with United, I'd go for Stones or Caulker too, possibly Flanagan as an outside bet for a first pick in the senior side.

My 23 man squad would be:

Keepers - Joe Hart (Man City), Ben Foster (West Brom), Fraser Forster (Celtic)
Defenders - Phil Jagielka (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Leighton Baines (Everton), John Stones (Everton), Luke Shaw (Southampton), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Glen Johnson (Liverpool)
Midfielders - Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Gareth Barry (Everton), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Ross Barkley (Everton)
Forwards - Wayne Rooney (Man Utd), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Rickie Lambert (Southampton), Danny Welbeck (Man Utd)

I'd go for: -

Keepers - Joe Hart (Man City), Ben Foster (WBA), Fraser Forster (Celtic)
Defenders - Phil Jagielka (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Leighton Baines (Everton), John Terry (Chelsea), Luke Shaw (Southampton), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Glen Johnson (Liverpool)
Midfielders - Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Gareth Barry (Everton), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Ross Barkley (Everton)
Forwards - Wayne Rooney (Man Utd), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Rickie Lambert (Southampton), Danny Welbeck (Man Utd)
Terry would be my own only change I think I wouldn't be surprised if Hodgson tempted him to go, because despite having an average season, I still think he would shore up the defence with Cole but I certainly wouldn't take Young. I don't think the referees would lenient with him out there and if he got sent off it would be stupid to have him missing for two games. Is Lescott injured? I'm surprised no one has named him!!

It certainly looks a strong team from Germany this time. We will look forward to meeting you in the second round onwards I'm sure!! Anyone has any idea of the Italian squad.
Our main problem with the first game is hitting the ground running. I think whatever the Italian squad is like and the team for the first game, they will almost certainly be set up to keep Rooney quiet as much as possible and to be physical at the same time despite the heat.
I'd certainly go either 5 - 3 -2 or a system where Rooney is a lone striker up front against them or perhaps start with Lambert and put Rooney on the
bench for substitution say after an hour that way he would be fresh legs. The conditions will be the same for both teams, but we cannot afford to be complacent.
