Im hoping Hodgson goes for youth and then the fans and media get behind the team win or lose theres a chance we wont get out the group anyway rather we tried it with kids for experience than pick same old same old who dont get out and we still dont know if the kids can cut it

I'm all for playing the youngsters but the point I'm trying very hard to make is they should be tried and settled into the set up months in advance. Not picked at the very last minute on what's seems a whim because they have had a decent season. Wink
defoe should be in the squad ahead of wellbeck, and cole in ahead of shaw, yet again the youngsters are being hyped up too much
A part of me wonders how they will react when they get torn apart by either Italy or Uruguay. It's good to see he has tried get the mix right but if we do get out of the group (most likely as runners up) we have to be realistic make the quarter finals first and then go from there.

These youngsters have earned their place. They've been regular starters for their clubs all season and are match fit. Shaw and Barkley also have just come off the end of a successful season for their clubs so hopefully they can carry that momentum through to the finals. I'm not saying we're going to pull up any trees in Brazil, far from it, but I'd rather start bringing in the future generation of players when we have the opportunity to now - not sit them all out so that they have zero experience by the time the next World Cup comes around. Plus there's still plenty of experience in the squad. The senior players like Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney can help these youngsters develop in the team.

I do think its a shame that Ashley was left out, but I can also see why Hodgson made the decision. Cole hasn't played too much for Chelsea, but then neither has Lampard. Perhaps Cole did deserve one last hurrah but he's accepted Roy's decision and now we must move on. I'm excited by the future generation and I don't think for one minute they're being hyped up too much like some other members seem to be saying.

How are they being hyped up too much? if anything it is the older England players apart from Gerrard & Terry who isn't even available anymore that are seriously hyped up for England (golden generation) is it you call them? More like golden failures, they have had time after time to go and do something special for you but time after time you fail, it is about time England moved on and gave the opportunity to a different group of players..

The only young player that is seriously over hyped is the wonder that is phil jones, every time I have seen him he's just shocking, I think he had reached his level at Blackburn..
2006 was when we had the best group of players, a cole, terry, ferdinand, neville, j cole, gerrard, lampard, beckham, rooney and owen, apart from rooney and neville they were all mid to late twenties and should have been at their peak, rooney was only 20 but he was hyped up too much and did fuck all, players like baines, sturridge and lallana are not young players but they lack experience at this level, maybe they will be able to handle the pressure who knows
btw brazil don't look that strong to me, have you replaced players such as roberto carlos, cafu, lucio, rivaldo, kaka, ronaldinho, ronaldo etc?
