I was just throwing it out there Wink

Apparently we are in a crisis too according to some people for drawing with mexico Rolleyes
The premier league is the best league in the world in that, the top teams can be outplayed and lose to lower teams, that rarely happens in the Spanish, French or German league because its like 18 yr olds playing 12 yr olds.
I wouldn't call what Brazil are in, a crisis. But that comes with being a top side with a winning tradition. Manchester United for example, finish 7th in the Premier League and its an absolute disaster. Most teams, like 90% of all football clubs would consider that nothing short of a triumph.

As for expectations. Well, I've made no secret of the fact I've harboured very little expectation for this England side. The world has left us behind. No question.

As a footballing nation though. I do think that as a country, we love football. We put a great deal of time and effort into it as a sport. And I think we should probably have a better national team than we do.

Do you agree with that?
That is exactly what I think but you need to stick with a Young squad like we have done over the last few years and play the same young players together through the age groups so they learn each others game and play like a club team, also i think you need a manager who is better tactically if you are to do anything in a big tournament again.
This is the Spirit all players should have like Periera ex Porto player Smile

Totally agree Fernandez. Especially about a group of players sticking together through the age groups.

As for this group of players. There are some promising young footballers in there. And this will have been an invaluable, humbling experience for them.

We may be out. But there is still football to be played. We have a game against Costa Rica on Tuesday, and I will be supporting my country. Win, lose or draw.
all i keep hearing is stuff like "the prem is best league in the world, we need more english players playing in the prem"
how good are the Uruguayan, Costa Rican, Columbian and Chilean leagues? and how many of their national team players play in their own league?, i hadn't even heard of half of those Uruguayan players but they beat us, a couple of them play for clubs such as sao paulo fc and UANL who the fuck are they? what club teams do the Costa Rican players play for? they beat Italy and now some of us think they will beat our so called prem stars who play for these so called big clubs like Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City
Less than a week. Advertisers, supermarkets and pubs won't even be able to count on a third England game to boost income. But I'm concerned about the real victims of this catastrophe. With work, I won't have time to get into Glasgow today or tomorrow, but I suspect that there will be traders at the Barras market and others who will have a mountain of knock-off Costa Rican shirts, and face a greatly reduced likelihood of selling them at the price they bargained on... Here's hoping they didn't order too many Colombian ones!Smile

Better news for Europe. I would not be surprised if by the turn of the year he is forced out if the qualifiers go badly, and we are left in an impossible position.

If you took time out Fernandez and listened to a piece I mentioned earlier in the thread featuring Stuart Pearce on 'Talksport' , this is exactly what 'Psycho' is talking about!! I couldn't believe 17 Under-21 players pulled out of a major U - 21 tournament just to go on a summer tour with their various clubs. And what experience has Luke Shaw got out of being in Brazil other than experiencing a different culture, but not even being on the pitch? It is highly likely the way things are going that he cuild be one of many young talented players that may never grace the World Cup again.
At European level he will maybe a part of international success, but that may be a far as international success is concerned he will get.
And I think it really does look as if the club versus country row extends right down to this age group. Surely it is better for our U-21 to be getting that tournament experience than going off with their clubs abroad? It will be sad if the current U-17 team are pulled the same way once they enter that age group range. Look at Germany and how many of their side have come through from that same age. Why can't clubs leave our kids alone at international level until they have done at least one U-21 tournament?
