In fairness, anyone can score goals against San Marino, Poland, & Montenegro. Doing it in the actual tournament is key. And Rooney has failed YET AGAIN.

Robot Devil I was just about to say that, seeing as Rooney played San Marino twice and Moldova Twice 7 goals in total over 2 years is Poor, Poland, Montenegro, Ukraine are hardly Strong teams either...

Rooney's not getting the blame. But he does deserve to be criticized for playing so poorly/annonymously tonight.

If you play the system roy is trying to play you need the wingers to track back and cover the full backs, Sterling does it for liverpool every week, Rooney wasn't up for doing it or he couldn't play the position correctly, Hodgeson should either play him up top with sturridge in his correct position, or not play him at all because he is the weak link...

Ultimately it falls down to Hodgeson's poor judgement both should be criticized, Rooneys had his chance for almost 10 years to perform where he is comfortable and he hasn't most of the time, Now Sturridge is taking his place and performing, already more worldcup goals than Rooney in his first World cup game...

imo it's stupid not playing your best player in his favourite position.
