Just bought 2 Tom baker era dvd's: Genesis of the Daleks (voted all time best episode by fans apparently), Planet of Evil (a homage to Forbidden Planet) and one Sylvester McCoy one; Curse of Fenric. All three from Amazon for £15.
The sfx may not be as good as today (actually looks like Blue Peter may have made the sets!) and some of the acting is a bit am dram at times but by god the storylines are much better Smile
Sadly not available yet on blu ray but all three come with a boat load of great extras. The Curse of Fenric even comes with an extended movie version that has been retouched as well as the original episodic version.
10/10 for restoring the faith!
just found that Ada the blind woman in last weeks ep of Doctor Who is actually Diana Rigg (Mrs. Gillyflower) real life daughter.

She should have used that in Dr Who. It could have been explained as the Victorian version of the sonic screwdriver!
