Well, it's a tentative thumbs up from me. I thought Jodie was pretty good (we're on first name terms now, purely because I keep having to check the spelling of her surname
)
I'll overlook the Predator rip-off storyline, so long as they don't keep doing that sort of thing. And, as others have said, building the sonic screwdriver was ridiculous, and unnecessarily so. Cannibalising the alien pod for parts would have been 100 times more convincing.
Decent enough opening episode to build on...
Seen it now & I too give it a thumbs up and think Jodie will smash it as the doctor. Some great funny lines including references to capaldi’s doctor
Thank you I knew it was a Chinese name (and came pretty close) but I think when Pertwee regenerated into Tom, it was the only one witnessed by the Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart from UNIT Am i correct? I don't think UNIT's featured very much since it came back with Christopher Ecclestone or since then but I would say Torchwood would be part of it.
The Woman Who Fell To Earth
Quite an interesting Northern ensemble character dramedy, not sure about all the sci-fi stuff that seemed to be a bit out of place and wanting to be in a different programme
.....
( Would you really use a really high, windy, exposed looking bit of hilltop as the best place to learn to ride a bike on ? Got to be easier places surely?)
"He said in winter 1963
It felt like the world would freeze
With John F. Kennedy
And The Beatles
All together now for the chorus....
Ah hey ma ma mommy doo-din-nie-ya
Ah hey ma mama hey-y-yah
Life In A Northern Town....."

Yup. Nick Courtney himself never appeared in New Who and of the first eight doctors Hartnell never met the Brig; Troughton, Davison, Colin and McGann were all off earth when they regenerated; McCoy was in a hospital morgue in America; and Tom was witnessed only by Nyssa, Tegan, and Adric.
UNIT's been in a few episodes, the ones that spring to mind are The Sontaran Strategy/The Poison Sky, but I think there have been others.

Unit were in a David Tennant special “Planet Of The Dead” which had former eastenders star Michelle Ryan as the guest companion.
As for this evening’s episode thought it was a very good one capped off by the reveal of the new look tardis
Bit better this week, some good guest cast, some unfortunate character lapses though.
I very much enjoyed this episode a lot better than last week's, when they were underground did anyone else get like a 90's video game vibe? Going through an abandoned laboratory where unspeakable things happened like it was Resident Evil or Silent Hill
UNIT first featured in Season 1 Aliens if London and were in the Christmas Invasion, Harriet Jones went to the Headquarters at the Tower of London. UNIT operated the Valiant which featured in The Sound of Drums and Last of the Timelords. Martha became a member of UNIT so when she featured they were usually there featuring in the aforementioned episodes as well as The Stolen Earth. Then there was Kate Lethbridge Stewart who was in charge of UNIT research in New WHO and her episodes: The Power of Three, The Day of the Doctor, Death in Heaven, The Magician's Apprentice, The Zygon Invasion and The Zygon Inversion. UNIT helicopters and troops also featured in The Return of Doctor Mysterio
