Anyone know where it was filmed, I know it's Cardiff based just the scenes on the railway with the old BR rolling stock in the shed and the tunnel.

the railway scenes were filmed in Gloucester, don't know where exactly

So there IS more to Clara then. Can anybody else see a spin off Female time-lord thing happening.

BBC continue to get the same license fee from every household regardless of recessions, the cost of them have not gone down, plus all the money from selling this abroad, blu rays etc - They can afford it.

It's like councils cutting jobs back claiming poverty, yet they still have enough money to keep the heating on ridiculously high and go out and buy all the latest hardware (oops little bit of politics there)
There was a little bit in last night's show that sounded like the Doctor ringing Clara on a babechannel. She was literally swinging from the lampshade with that boy and the doctor says on the phone 'what are you up to, it sounds very energetic', followed by some sound effects from JLC.
And they got it past the censors. Tongue

excellent news. Roll on Jon Pertwee. As a kid the coolest old timer ever (pun intended) Big Grin
You know, it wouldn't surprise me if all this was heading towards the first female doctor. All this talk of Coleman not making her mind up could be a red herring.

Is he the 13th doctor now? so in proper mythology there are none left to regenerates, so next time he dies, by rights, he dies.

Could be Capaldi agreed to the one series and dies in the Christmas special and Clara looks into the heart of the TARDIS (in a controlled way) or the doctor does some hoo doo on her so she can have his knowledge and ability to regenerate; seems that timelords are made not born from the Listen episode.

This Missy thing could also indicate they will become enemies and the doctor already knows it.

Chance for young people to see how alike and how closer Capaldi is to the original doctors.

That particular issue has already been dealt with, look back through this thread for references.

Last nights episode wasn't actually too bad. Not great, but not bad. Clara pretending to be the Doctor didn't really work, and the 3d/2d monsters were lame, as was the Dr peering through the mini tardis and reaching out through the door. If you aren't going to spend the money getting the special effects right, probably best not to do them at all. But the overall story was OK.
Some of the best episodes of this relaunch seem to have been with a largely unseen or inanimate enemy, the weeping angels, the water monster on Mars, the shadows in the library. This 2d monster was OK until they attempted to give it 3 dimensions. Put the second rate halloween costumes and cheap special effects away and leave it to the viewers imagination, seems to work better that way, and relies more on the storyline to pull it off as well.

One thing I don't get with this series is the ease with which the characters reveal themselves and the tardis to other people. The Dr taking the schoolgirl for a joy-ride in the tardis, and last night Clara showing the mini tardis and Dr to the young lad, and I'm sure there have been other instances throughout this series. Discretion seems to be out the window!

She seems to know her way around a sonic screwdriver! You experts can put me right about this, has any other companion used one so readily and so often, not just now and then?

'Issues' may well have been dealt with but that doesn't mean they can't change. Last night's episode was all about Clara being THE doctor.

And I did say it wouldn't surprise me, it wouldn't surprise me either if Capaldi was the doctor for a few years to come, I suppose it depends on his acting career, does he want to do other stuff, be the character actor he has been all his life or think this is a nice little gig till I retire, seems to all about the fad of the actor playing the role these days.

I do know one thing I was borderline ridiculed a few posts back in saying there was more than meets the eye with Clara (other than the impossible girl or a cocky companion), and i was right. Big Grin
