Great, emotional episode with wonderful performances by the three leads; especially Karen Gillan and Tony Curran.
The monster appeared to be only there as a storyline to bring the group together. However, even that part was in keeping with the feel of the episode in that it was physically hurt & abandoned which had parallels with Vincent who was in mental torment & alone.
First time I've really shed a few tears during the new series. Tonight's had it all - twisting storyline, continuity from the previous episodes, heartbreak and surprise.
I think they captured perfectly how brilliant, but yet deeply troubled a person Vincent Van Gogh was.
One of the best stories of the new Who, as good as the episodes with Silurians, Daleks and Weeping Angels. Tony Curran the perfect choice to play Van Gogh and a funny slot from Bill Nighy too! Excellent.
Couldn't agree more, one of the best episodes of the new series. Emotional, thought provoking stuff, very well written and acted.
Tony Curran was fantastic as Van Gogh, a great actor...should be on screen a lot more!
it started with a message being sent to the doctor going through various times in history that the pandorica is opening, the doctor, river and amy go to stonehenge and find that the pandorica is buried underneath it then a first big twist that rory comes back from the dead and doesnt know why. then alien spaceships appear from various races the doctor has fought, at this time the doctor tells river to get the tardis but something has control of the tardis and it takes her to amy's house and river and the doctor soon realise that they have walked into a trap and the romans and rory have been created from amy's memories, but then the pandorica opens and all the doctors deadliest enemies have joined forces in an alliance thanks to the cracks in time and the pandorica is a prison to keep the doctor trapped whilst their plan is put into action which is to blow up the tardis and delete everything and as the doctor is put in the pandorica amy gets "killed" by "rory" and then it just pans out to a shot of the earth surronded by explosions. you hear a voice say "the silence will fall" and i think its davros who is behind the whole alliance and plot
I've not seen much of the last three episodes, saw some of tonight's finale but didn't really get it - but that was only because I've not watched it much over the last few weeks. I'll have to wait for the dvd set but it will be ready soon. Enjoyed the series overall, a few weak episodes, but a reasonably good start for Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor.
very good episode tonight to end the series. bit confusing at the start (wont say why yet) but have now got it and some hints at the end about the xmas special and the next series
