Good news: a 12th series has been confirmed. Bad news: you'll have to wait until 2020.
Mark Addy looks about ready to do the BBC's Terry Scott biopic.

A bit better episode than some this year. I just wish they'd put it on a bit later again. Maybe if it does return in January etc then that might happen.
Great news about the new series and I think they moved the Christmas episode forward to New Year to make sure we start the year with Who until 2020 but maybe there will be a Christmas special before the new series as well. I thought last nights episode was very good, more science-fiction based and the return of Zim'sha Tim Shaw(we all wondered if he would return) however it would have been nice to have some of the classic villains back like the Daleks or the Cybermen, the stuff that scared the shit out of everyone the last time. Smile
Old news: I see that there's a Blu Ray release of lost Troughton story The Macra Terror slated for March 2019.
I wonder what the criteria for selecting this one was: I'd guess main one budget as one of the few 4 partners of that era not already dealt with, and because The Highlanders, the only other one that fits that bill, doesn't have any aliens in it.
But if you're going to animate 4 episodes, why not one of the 6-partners that only have 2 episodes missing ( Faceless Ones ? Wheel in Space with Cybermen in it surely a more bankable seller, and the story leads into the Invasion, they can bundle a rerelease of that into a doublepack and make us buy that story twice, oh....yes....wait I've just seen the cunning business plan there? ) .

I'm guessing would be too much work to try and upscale the existing episodes to Blu Ray as well as add all that animation.?
Pity.
I thought that was really good, the best one yet. Pity it took the whole series to hit that kind of form Rolleyes

The Tooth Fairy escalated quickly from serial killer to genocidal maniac. It seems certain he'll escape and be back in the future.
It's good to see this Doctor get her own nemesis rather than just recycling the old ones Cool

Let's hope the finale isn't an anti-climax.
I certainly enjoyed this finale but it didn't quite feel like one. I think it would of been better to do it over two episodes, for me there was not enough time to convey a true sense of jeopardy it was all over and resolved as soo as it started. I do agree, I liked the sci-fi element to it and I thought Tim Shaw was better in this episode (though he didn't put up much of a fight) as well as the Ux.

Visually the episode was stunning, I don't think the show has looked better than when they were crossing the battlefield and looking up at the building in the sky.

I still feel like Yaz has been under utilised in this series, as far as character development has gone series 11 has really been the story of Ryan & Graham coming to terms with grief and each other. Hopefully series 12 will give Yaz a chance to come into her own without sidelining Ryan & Graham, it's a difficult balancing act series 12 will probably decide for me whether 3 companions is too much. Credit to Walsh & Cole I felt they both played their characters well, Walsh in particular for me has been a highlight of the season (along with Jodie, Rosa & Demons of the Punjab)
Just watched the New Years episode.

Nobody else bothered to comment? I suppose that says it all really Rolleyes
Who doesn't like a good storyline with a Dalek in it? Mind you it looks like there is trouble at mill with the writer Chris Chibnell who could, if things aren't sorted out behind the scenes, walk and possibly Jodie Whitaker could go too. Not for the first time would we have a Doctor last just one series(remember Christopher Ecclestone only lasted one series) so that would mean another Doctor Who to find...but let's wait and see. I thought the episode was good, we learnt more about the father of one of the characters and I must admit I have been impressed with Bradley Walsh, because when it was announced he would be joining I thought they were having a laugh, but no, he has been very good.
Well I thought it was a bit disappointing. The soul searching bits with Ryan's father, randomly inserted amongst the action, just spoiled the pace of the show.
And the lone homemade Dalek trying to 'phone home' didn't feel particularly threatening. I'd have had something like a cavern full of dormant Daleks waiting for his signal.
And they couldn't resist one last dig at Trump, with the UNIT thing. Do they not realise we watch shows like this to get away from all that crap Rolleyes
I think the UNIT comment was about Brexit, International partners pulling their funding from the UK. Jodie's sort of dragging facepalm summoned it up nicely for me and it certainly triggered all the Brexiteer snowflakes over at the Daily Express who go off their nut at the slightest jibe at Brexit but think the leftist PC SJW's get set off by everything but fail to realise that both sides are the same.

Anyway putting that aside I enjoyed it as a switch off adventure, it may of not been the best but if you compare it to some other specials, Husbands of River Song and the terrible Doctor, Widow and The Wardrobe it begins to look better. I wasn't put off by the Ryan and his dad element, I really like when the show focuses on character development (one of the reasons I am one of the few apparently who likes season 8 is because I loved the characterisation of The Doctor, Clara and Danny) and the focus on Ryan and Graham's relationship has been the strength of this season for me and his relationship with his father was the one thing that needed to be resolved. The special ties that storyline up and the Season 11 up, freeing season 12 to pursue pastures new. Hopefully with everything in that story arc resolved we can move on to Yaz and get some proper stories and development for her so that she can be something more than a supporting role
