who went thru qualifying and got far into the tuournament last year. ?

oh remembered was ding junhui made the final after going thru qualifying
Yes that's a good point.
Ding was my tip for the title last year but came up just short.
Getting through the qualifiers leaves players match sharp.
Do not be surprised if some big names fall at the first hurdle. It happened last year and may well do so again.
World Championship qualifying is underway at Ponds Forge.
And eleven time ladies World Champion Reanne Evans has won her first match 10-8 against Robin Hull after trailing 5-1. The Dudley lass is now two wins away from a place in the Crucible draw.
Jimmy White lost to Jack Lisowski, and looks likely to lose his Tour card too, after decades.
Lisowski plays Peter Ebdon in the 2nd round of qualifying.
In other interesting ties Reanne Evans takes on Lee Walker while Alfie Burden is up against Jamie Jones.
Reanne Evans trails Lee Walker 1-6 after the first session Sad Sad Sad.

Peter Ebdon scraped past Jack Lisowski 10-9.

But the big shock in round two of qualifying so far is Joe Perry being knocked out by Akani Songsermsawad.
Reanne Evans will not be at the Crucible after suffering a 10-6 defeat to Lee Walker Sad. The first six frames of the day were shared to leave Walker 9-4 up.
Evans won the next two but to no avail as Walker sealed victory in frame 16.

Ken Doherty has also been knocked out in qualifying by Ben Woollaston 10-4.
The 1997 World Champion will therefore lose his tour card for next season.
I'm sure Reanne will be disappointed to lose but I'm sure she will be back Stunned to see both Doherty and White losing, White especially after what had happened to him. If Ebdon gets through no doubt the crowd will fall asleep, are there fines for slow play?
That's a shame about Kendo, but at least we'll be able to enjoy his zzzzzzzz commentary instead.

Peter Ebdon has indeed made it to the Crucible after a 10-9 victory over Michael Holt in the last qualifying round.
He won on the final black.
