The China Open has started today.
The last ranking event before the cut off point is reached to decide the automatic qualifiers for the World Championship.
Those outside the top 16 at the end of the China Open face 3 rounds of qualifying to reach the Crucible.
Ding has been KO'd. As he is #16, it looks likely he'll be overtaken before the week is through.

Neil Robertson and Joe Perry were also notable losers.
ITV4 have a series called Snooker Mavericks starting tonight(Thursday) at 10PM
Alas, I think the series is called Mavericks, with only 1 episode on Snooker.

The China Open final is between Ricky Walden who heroically pipped John "and his lovely wife" Higgins 6-5, whilst Judd Trump whitewashed Misery Maguire Big Grin
Trump won 10-4 Smile

That Mavericks thing was quite fun, really, even with Bazza Hearn supposedly lamenting the lack of modern mavericks in the game.

Unfortunately Maguire did just enough to qualify for the Crucible as a top 16 seed by reaching the semi finals in China annoyed.
Jammy so and so.
Not many people in sport I really loathe but he is one bladewave.
World Championship Qualifying 1st round started yesterday with Graham Dott having a tough match before beating B Sergeant 10-8, Peter Ebdon beat James Wattana 10-6 to set up a clash with Graham Greene who beat Jimmy White 10-9
Final round of qualifying for World Championship has D Junhui v Nigel Bond, M King V M Holt, Ken Doherty V Ryan Day, Ali Carter V Dominic Dale, Alan McManus V J Robertson, L Wenbo V Guodong X, Matt Stevens V K Wilson, Graeme Dott through to final round where he plays M Dunn. Peter Ebdon is through he came from 9-3 down to beat Graham Greene 10-9 just after 2 am thîs morning. Anthony McGill got through 10-9 against Craig Steadman
Sad, if inevitable, that Jimmy and Steve Davis didn't make it.

I see Bingham decided to slag off Ronnie for not winning as many World Championships as Stephen Hendry. You might as well slag off John Higgins for the same reason. Or you might deduce the reason they haven't is the same - each other.
