And Tubs Murphy can take a running jump, as far as I'm concerned.
Yet another seeded player eliminated as Alan McManus beats Stephen Maguire 10-7
Good riddance! Big Grin
Well for me this is a sad day.
My childhood sporting idol has finally called it a day.
Six times World Champion, six times UK champion, 3 times Masters Champion, winner of 28 ranking titles, a participant in a century of major finals and 1453 professional matches overall, an MBE, OBE and a former Sports Personality of the year. In my humble view the most outstanding ambassador snooker has ever had.

Steve Davis.
He was my inspiration to play the game and watch the game I love so much. The model professional and the true champion.
The tributes from fellow professionals have been flooding in all day and are richly deserved.
He retires with poignant timing as his father who had been his guiding light throughout his career had recently passed away.
His final competitive match was to be a 10-4 defeat by Fergal O'Brien in the World Championship Qualifiers at Ponds Forge.

So many memories, some wonderful, some painful and some highly amusing. His contribution to the sport though has been immense and I thank him for everything he has done for the sport I love the most. A brilliant champion, a superb ambassador and for many, many years my sporting idol.

Happy retirement Steve Davis and thanks for the memories.
On a happier note.
Delighted Maguire is out Big Grin.
Shame he didn't lose 10-0 Wink.
Good old Angles McManus Wink.
Yes, it's a shame about Steve Davis and his ambitions to be the new Fatboy Slim. But to me, he will always be a better professional and person than Stephen Hendry ever will Big Grin
Surely it's time for a knighthood for services to snooker ?

Arise Sir Steve "interesting " Davis
How about Lord Steve "Interesting" Davis?
Ronnie O'Sullivan has beaten David Gilbert 10-7
