Instead, this butt ugly cover arrived. It reminds me of the original, original thing from the 50's, confused the living out of me at first.

Very dissapointing. annoyed
Got a few blu ray films to recommend, the first one is Star Trek First Contact one of my fav Star Trek films, had this on dvd but decide to upgrade and it was well worth it. The picture quality is crystal clear and a huge improvement over the dvd version it almost looks like a brand new film. The quality again a huge improvement over the dvd, the sound is crystal clear and real needs to be hooked up to 5.1 cinema system. The Extras aren't too bad either over 3 hours worth but the extras are exactly the same as the dvd version but all in all a bargain at £6.95.
Another blu ray i highly recommend is Puss In Boots, the picture quality is crystal clear and the colours on screen rich and warm and the sound is quality its top notch you'll really benefit from having a 5.1 cinema system hook up. Now you get a ton of extras and as a extra bonus blu ray exclusive extras which makes the package even more worth picking up. Its a triple play release so you get the blu ray and dvd copy of the film along with the digital copy as well and its the normal digital copy that works with iTunes which i prefer.
Finally the last blu ray i highly recommend is the film Colombiana starring the gorgeous Zoe Saldana (Uhrua in the Star Trek reboot) the picture quality is simply stunning and images on screen detailed and no grain, the sound is really good too and i highly recommend playing this through a 5.1 cinema system. Whats a little disappointing is there isn't a lot of extras but you can't go wrong for 6 quid. If your a fan of Taken and Jason Bourne then you'll like this film plus its dirt cheap Smile.
The Hustler
This is one of my all time favorite paul newman films, as Eddie Felson he gives a lifetime best performance, along with Jackie Gleason as Minnesota Fats, it's pin sharp picture quality for a b/w film, along with a fantastic set of extras, i particulary like the Hollywood's Cool Hand doc on newman himself.

Bought 3 blu rays for £20 this afternoon from hmv, Drive, Platoon, and Stargate Special Edition, looking forward to them.
Day Of The Dead

While not being a massive fan of zombie films, this third instalment in George Romeros triolgy, is the one i always return too.
Its a very good 2disc package of blu ray and dvd with 4 sleeve art options which you can interchange at your leisure, a nice touch. Stand out performances from Richard liberty as "Frankenstien" the doctor carving up the cadavers of the dead trying to decipher the cause of the virus, and "Howard Sherman" as frankenstiens main zombie pupil "Bub". Picture quality is fine and the gory scenes sure stand out, a nice commentary and feature on the blu ray, and a good set of extras on the dvd make this a good investment.
Fargo
This is one of my all time favourite Coen Brothers movies, and it really sparkles on blu ray. Fantastic performances from oscar winner Frances Mcdormand as the police chief, William H. Macy as the hapless Jerry who hires the pair of borderline psycho's (brilliantly played by the ever great Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare) to kidnap his wife for money. The humour is wickedly black and the snowy wastes of Minnesota have never looked better. Extras are a little thin( the trailer is in hd), but that does'nt detract from just what a brilliant movie this is. Highly recommended.
Ancient Aliens: Season One
Having always had a fascination with alien's and ufo's, this boxset makes cracking viewing, it covers the globe showing early cave drawings, Indian texts describing "Flying Machines of the God's", and all the major sites such as the Nasca Lines in Peru. I just found this totally fascinating to watch, and to hear the many theories that are given over the three discs. Picture quality is great, and with a great bonus documentary, this is well worth purchasing.
Some release dates:

Starship Troopers: Invasion-27th August
(This is not a live action movie- Apparently it's a cgi film from Japan. Saying that its supposed to be 80 minutes of good fun but does nothing for the starship troopers franchise (Mind you neither did the 2nd or the truly awful 3rd movie)

Avengers 17th September

Prometheus 8th October

MiB3 12th November

The Amazing Spiderman-26th November

Also:
Dark Knight Rises and Game of Thrones season 2 blu ray have been advertised but release dates are yet to be confirmed. ( Xmas releases would be cool as they would guarantee plenty of quality viewing)

I've seen Invasion... and whilst it is not live action movie it is reasonably entertaining if you can get past the irony of them trying to improve the series of films by using a cartoon... Good film to sit back relax and not really concentrate on anything much
