Picked up A Monster Calls(2017)

A really impressive adaptation of Patrick Ness' children's book.Wrenchingly sad moments and dark fantasy all rooted in reality.Great voice work from Liam Neeson and a good performance from Lewis MacDougall.

A pic for Dario Argento fans,I recommend Phenomena(1985)

Managed to get this at a bargain price of £6 at a market in Leeds.

Jennifer Connelly in great form in her first lead role as young teen in Transylvania who has a telepathic link with insects that helps her track a child killer.Dario Argento's cult film is a bit clunky and disjointed until the final act which makes it worth it.

Extras :

Audio commentary
3 alternate cuts
Documentary
Visual essay
Music video
CD soundtrack
Collectable booklet
For Jackie Chan fans I highly recommend Drunken Master(1978)

I bought it from Sainsbury's for £12.

A really basic martial arts comedy that is essentially an extended training montage about a slacker who learns the art of fighting like a drunkard. However its an amazing showcase of Chan's skill to western audiences.

Extras :

Commentary
Deleted scenes

The X-Files -Collectors set

This is one of the finest sci-fi series of all time and well worth upgrading onto Blu Ray, while not perfect the picture and sound are a vast improvement over the dvd version, the only disappointment is the extras which are the same as on the dvds.

£79.99 from HMV

Highly recommended
Highly recommend The Lego Batman Movie(2017)

I bought it from Granger Games for £12

Beautifully animated with amazing voice work from all involved mixed with the type of satire that Paul Verhoeven would be proud of.

I was in HMV yesterday and noticed they have a few classic movies on offer at 2 for £15, triple play (blu-ray, DVD, and digital copies). I picked up Logans Run and Soylent Green, but there was also The Omega Man, Them, Forbidden Planet, and a few more.
Picked up a great bargain in Moonlight(2017).

From a Wednesday market for £8

With a great Oscar winning turn from Mahershala Ali as drug dealer/father figure, writer and director Barry Jenkins' adaptation of Tarell Alvin McCraney's play is a magnificently cathartic and poetic effort that builds up to a perfectly judged climax.

Audio commentary
Interviews
Featurettes
