For Muralitharan they bent the rules nearly as much as he bent his arm. Rolleyes

That's why Bob Willis doesn't rate him as one of crickets great spinners
Bob Willis is a fool, Murali is undoubtedly the greatest spinner of all time, he has a claim to be the greatest bower of all time!

That is correct. That was the first time in the history of the modern game that the laws of cricket were amended or changed to suit the actions of one player.

Just reading about a new tv series Freddie Flintoff is filming for Sky 1.
It's called "Flintoff : Lord of the Fries" in which he travels around Britain & Ireland in his eco-friendly, cooking-fat-fuelled, mobile chippy, meeting local people along the way.
Get the batter out Big Grin
Bob Willis is no fool ,slightly obnoxious sometimes, maybe ,but he did play at the highest level for a long time .
Murilitheran used to bowl approximately 2 "straight arm" balls per over ,the other 4 he "chucked".
Nowt but a cheat !
Today's the finals of the 50 over competition of Durham v Warks.
Because it's right at the end of the season when the ball moves all over the place in the first few overs, it tends to be an anti climax.
The side batting last has a big advantage.

I can't understand why it can't be moved to early September.

Years ago the captain of one winning team was given the 'man of the match' award, just because he won the toss and inserted the opposition.

Warks after a bad start have regrouped and are currently 102-5. off 30 overs.
Durham won the low scoring final in front of a half empty Lord's. Since the final has been played at the very end of the season attendances have been significantly down on the finals that used to be staged earlier in the month.

High cost of tickets and travel costs ,perhaps ?
Twent20 has taken over "the" cricket final nowadays .
The one-day domestic competition has become a sort of afterthought in England since the success of T20.
Probably runs hand in hand with the England teams poor performances at this form of the game .
Know what you mean though Billy . The Lords final used to be a big highlight of the season .Cricket's version of the FA Cup Final and just look how that match has become of less significance over the last 10-15 years .
Progress ,eh ?
The T20 so-called "Champions League" is currently taking place in India. All the winners of each nations T20 competitions are partaking - except England. This is due to the fact that this "Champions League" coincides with the end of the English domestic season and the ECB has decided not to permit the current English winners of the T20 Blast to compete.
Just watched the wonderful David Lloyd documentary on sky .
Loved the archive interview on his thoughts on Murralitherran after he'd demolished England at Lords .
"If his action is legal ,we should be coaching it to our youngsters ! "
He was subsequently dropped from his post as England's Head Coach .
He'd make a good Yorkie would "Bumble" ! *

Smile
* There is no higher praise from a Yorkie .
