He is the grandson of the second Dr Who Patrick Troughton.
He should have been given more opportunities to play for England, but for some reason he was overlooked.
He was a brilliant fielder.
Sir Ian Botham doesn't reckon the IPL is a good idea.

He has a very valid point - but the IPL creates vast amounts of money for the BCCI, Indian television companies and satisfies the sponsors.
Ben Stokes has been omitted for the England v India T20 match.
So in the 50 over match against Notts, he going in to bat at no 4 for Durham and hits 164 in 50 overs.
There has been a competition called 'The Royal London One Day Cup' and it's final takes place on Saturday. My question is: just how much coverage has this competition received? Not much judging by the notable lack of it by large sections of the media.
Pakistani spinner Saeed Ajmal has been banned by the ICC for suspect bowling action. They took their time after he had taken 446 test wickets!!
And yet they allowed Muttiah Muralitharan to openly chuck the ball
I've seen him play live, and I've never thought his action to be illegal
And Muralitharan was called 3 times in ODi's in Australia for throwing
Muralitharan,s action was always suspect, they just bent the rules so he could play.
