Napier got into one of the ODI squads but never made the starting 11,around the time he smashed 152 not out in a T20 match.

They'll say he's past it a 33,.He's never managed to stay fit,if you consider he made his First Class Debut in 1997 but only started 122 matches up until the start of this season, which is less than 50%.

He has been inconsistant with the bat until this year & has outscored all the top order batsmen at Essex in 4 day cricket. They always say he bats too low down but plays his best at No.8.

He's featured in 217 Limited overs matches up until the start of this season, has scored 2660 runs 18.47 av top score 79 with 13 half centuries.
248 wickets 26.08 av Economy 5.23 runs/over.

When you consider that England gave up with Dernbach who has the worst economy rate in the history of the game, but still brought him in as cover when he clearly doesn't know his arse from his elbow when in comes to bowling.

Napier can get in yorkers at around 90mph when he's flat out,a bit like a poor mans Darren Gough.
Only a friendly so the stats don't count, but when Australia get bowled out for 65 runs & go down to a 243 run defeat to India in the 50 over Champion's Trophy warm-up match, you have to smile.

England have tomorrows 3rd ODI day/night match v New Zealand to get back on track before they face Australia on Saturday.
Was Graham Napier one of the few English players to be bought at "auction" for one of the IPL 20-20s or am I mistaken ?

Really excellent YB40 match on Sky earlier between Middlesex and Somerset.
Went to the last over with Middlesex reaching their target of 248.
Very enjoyable.

Middlesex looked to be coasting it at one point,& made hard work of it & got in a panic.

The last over of the somerset innings turned the match.
Hildreth was on strike, with 76,he then hit 3 consecutive sixes over the short leg-side boundary followed by a 4.The 5th ball was a good yorker which he failed to score off, which left him on 98.He calmly hit a reverse shot to the 3rd man boundary to score what turned out to be a match winning hundred.
James Anderson became England's leading ODI wicket taker when he dismissed Mitchell Marsh, his 235th victim, going past Darren Gough's 234.
Yorkshire's Matthew Fissher became the youngest post-war cricketer to play in a top flight English county competition, after facing Leicestershire at Scarborough in the YB40 match.
The right-arm seamer from York is only 15 years & 212 days old.He scored 10 runs & took 1-40 off 7 overs.
Australian opener David Warner has been suspended until the first ashes test match for an alleged attack on England batsman Joe Root in a bar.

That's brave of Warner to find the smallest guy in the England party, and Root must be 4-5 stones lighter than him.

He wouldn't have done that if Freddy Flintoff was still playing.
Joe Root age 22 Height 6ft Weight 12st
David Warner age 26 height 5ft 7in Weight 11st 11lb

More like 5 or 5 inches taller,I bet he had to use a bar stool to reach & he still didn't make good contact.

It could be that Warner will now miss the 1st Test with no competetive cricket. This will offer some clarity for team selection as in narrows down the opening options to any 2 from 4 & not 5.
