is any1 fussed about who lights the flame? i hope it isnt beckham or any1 from royalty! ideally i wud like sum1 who is sumthin to do with the olympics although i do recall platini lighting the witner olympic flame at 1 time with a young kid! apparently it is gonna be a WOW factor when it happens, possibly be redgrave although he is not very well known in certain parts of the world but hes done it all so i will be happy if he does it, but my hero is daley thompson and it wud be great to see daley do it! any1 else got any ideas?

thing is why daley thompson would he have got a shot at it unless he was seb coes best mate dont get me wrong 2 gold medals in the decathlon great but did he really have any competition and did he make it so loads of kids took up Decathlon nope

Steve Redgrave and his 5 golds in 5 games and also the fact he did this with diabetes should be favorite

yeah iv got no problem if its redgrave! i think thompson did hav competetion to be fair, in 1980 and 1984! his main competitor hingsen was there in 84 with the americans and he did it all on his own not having to rely on others! like i say iv no problem with redgrave doing it, he wud be a great choice, and no offence to any cockneys on here but i hope its not just a little cockney kid that gets the honour but iv a feeling thats what mite happen!

One of the most ridiculous rules in sport if you ask me. They should be allowed 1 False start per race (not per person) and after that the next one gets a DQ.

When Beckham wasn't picked for the football team he was promised a role by Seb Coe.... so it could be him who lights the flame.

At the Atlanta games they used Muhammad Ali to great effect and who could GB use to give a simular impact... And his name is again being mentioned.

I suggest that we use former Olympic gold winner and the last undisputed World Heavyweight champion. Lennox Lewis.

i forgot about lennox lewis wonder what the odds are on him! the bookies probably wont be far away with people like bannister, redgrave and thompson! ur rite about what coe said regarding beckham but i dont think he will light the flame but im sure he will be doing sumthin on the nite!

hey charlie they mite even do what the americans did in the winter olympics with the miracle on ice team! it might be the 88 gold medal hockey team lighting the flame! you never know!
