I think the idea of a Team Gb footie team appeals, and I do wonder what planet Arsene was on when he said he wouldn't allow his young players to take part. I can understand his sentinent, but to win a gold medal on home turf wiould something special and there must be very few pro soccer players who have an Olympic gold medal in their collection.

I think Stuart Pearce would do a good job and it would probably be the last international tournament for Beckham. And if anything they could only look at the GB hockey team of 1988 acheived against the odds, for inspiration.

Does anybody know if Sean will be involved with the hockey team for 2012?

Holly Bleasdale is on top form and is hoping to medal in the Pole Vault at the Olympics.

She's just smashed the British record by clearing 4.87m at Lyon to move top of the world rankings in 2012.

Shes from my hometown wonder where she learned to do the pole vault oooh might have more gold medalists from here to go with the others from Jason Quelly and Bradley Wiggins

Barry Davies will be commentating on the Hockey tournament for what will be his 12th summer Olympics, setting a new UK (and possibly world) record for a sports broadcaster. Bazza will be 75 this year and this could well be the final swansong of a commentating legend.
