I really enjoyed the fencing and archery yesterday, it's a shame these sports along with the shooting only get TV coverage at the Olympics but bowls which is basically marbles for oap's gets loads of air time.
not many schools do archery and fencing nowadays Wink where as loads of bowls was created to keep people out of the pubs Wink

A couple of years ago the women's world bowls champion was aged only 18. More recently a 14 year old girl won a world mixed pairs event.

If you look, our fella hit first but the other ones face gaurd lit up at the same time, which apparently meant he won the point. Very odd rules.

So in a real sword fight the stabs first loses

Then, as you say, she grabbed the front brake in desperation. There could be one further factor that helped contribute though; releasing the rear brake from the slide. In motor cycle terms known as a 'highside' where the rear wheel loses lateral grip then regains it violently.
Chuck in a dose of heavy front braking and you're going straight to the scene of the accident.

Quote:The fastest that you can stop any bike of normal wheelbase is to apply the front brake so hard that the rear wheel is just about to lift off the ground. In this situation, the rear wheel cannot contribute to stopping power, since it has no traction.

With her level skill, i suspect she hit the rear brake to slow the cycle down to the above speed, then used her front, but miss timed it.
