Gutted for Jess Sad.
Totally gutted Sad.
It's a silver medal Smile but that's not what she went to Rio for Sad.
Just fell a bit short in Shotput, 200m and Long Jump but even that is maybe hypercritical.
No really bad events at all from Jess in all honesty.
Fair play to Thiam. Five PBs in seven events.
Jess tried her heart out but fell marginally short.
She may well choose to retire after this and if she does then what a stellar performer she has been for British sport. Fabulous athlete, charming person and inspiration to so many.

I'm off for a good sulk SadRolleyes.
Sad silver jess...so its bum timeHeartImportantBig Grin
dutch athlete's are hot!
thats the problem with Heptathlon if you get PB's get more points and when a girl gets 5 out of 7 Pb's nowt you can do
doing a break down of our medals in Rio and comparing to London
Swimming - gold wise this time than in London, we have won 1 gold and 5 silvers in Rio whereas in London we won only 1 silver and 2 bronzes - so marginally better
Cycling on the track we have won 3 golds but in London we won seven road wise we only have Chris Froome's bronze in Rio but won 1 of each colour in London - road wise should have been better
Athletics we have started well with 1 gold and bronze so far we won 4 in London so we need some people to raise performances in some disciplines to match London
Rowing - 3 golds so 1 less than in London, but we topped rowing medal table
Judo just one silver but two medals in London
Tennis would love to see Andy repeat his gold but it will be our only tennis medal here whether silver or Bronze
30 medals so far which less than half our London total, but still respectable
I'm sure Jess is just as disappointed not to win too Hannah mate, but she has the home World championships in 2017 to aim for now I'm sure she would want to compete there I doubt she can think ahead as far as 2020
^^ We are actually doing better in terms of medals than we were after Day 8 in London, Our target in Rio is 48 medals which would be our best ever overseas Olympics and no country has ever exceeded their home Olympics medal count in the following Olympics.

If you want to track GB's performance the BBC has a Team GB medal tracker

here
I just found that on their website and looked up 2012!! doubt if it could go back any further, mind you, overall we have won 207 medals at the Olympics, Germany have won 400 which is a combined total of both East & West Germany whether that's counting only on Summer Games and not Winter.
I remember Atlanta when we only got 1 gold !! thats when all the Lottery money came into being

Sydney in 2000 was 11 golds 10 silver and 17

We are currently on the same amount of medals we got at the entire Athens Olympics 30 and we will break that today with medals already guarenteed ie the sprint and Andy Murray in the tennis

We need 47 medals to equal Bejing

think target is 48

But think about it only countries beating us are US and China
Anyone see that shot Justin Rose played hits into the crowd and some daft bint tried to pick it up
