They took the belt off him in January and made him look a schmuck in the process. WWE seem to be hung up on the idea that if you thwart a face from his goal about 50 times, then when he finally wins, everything will be alright. It never works. It just makes the eventual win seem like an anti-climax. Especially with this ongoing "face vs authority" crap, since the authority always comes back as strong.

The fans at raw disagreed as they booed her out of the building
That's because fans only care about Wrestling these days, they would have booed Torrie Wilson out of the building if she was around now as she can't wrestle, of course i want to see hot divas that can wrestle aswell a shame Kaitlyn left, i hope Nikki is back soon

Triple H's antics haven't helped him one bit,as you wrote they've made him look more clueless than he is.He will be booed at mania even more becuse of this and also because he doesn't deserve to be in a main event spot anyway.Just like Cena in 2006.
I know it's impossible in the pg era but I would have liked to see a racist/homophobic stable. Don't get me wrong can't stand stuff like that but I think wwe doing an angle like that could have been beneficial. You got guys like Darren Young doing absolutely nothing, why not give him the spotlight, why not have him be the overcomer to these homophobic jibes and discrimination. Even if it was a short program I still think it could have told a great story and help elevate young somewhat
I know the racist one would be hard as the guys that are assigned the roles would find that tag hard to shake off especially from outsiders but it would have been entertaining tv in my opinion. Just have good prevail and perhaps at the end they change their ways and call a truce or sumin I dunno lol.
They did a racist angle with Triple H and Booker T at Triple H's request and it bombed. The guys you mentioned definitely need some kind of major angle to get them over with the crowd. The problem with doing controversial angles like homophobia, race etc is that it tends to turn people off. They did a bizzare storyline a few years ago where Kurt Angle was basically suggesting that he wanted to force himself on Booker T's wife and that failed .The Kane/Katie Vick murder/necrophilia saga was a total failure.People watch wrestling to get away from real life problems, not to be reminded of them.If an angle like that fails it can be detrimental to someone's career. It took Kane a while to recover from the Katie Vick angle because it was so crap. It was also Triple H's idea. But then again if an angle could sabotage someone's push,Triple H would obviously love it .
Oh yh I forgot about all them incidents!!
I agree though about Darren Young,he needs a major, serious angle to get him over.He could be very good in the correct circumstances.

That was a WM build-up, too, 13 years ago. Since the wronged party actually lost, it effectively condoned the racism, and made Booker T look like Schmucker T.
as with homophobia, one suspects Vince would happily run such an angle, but not so as to lead to a PC conclusion. Rico didn't ever make it, Fandango seemed to become less popular with WWE management because the crowd embraced him, etc
I doubt Darren Young or Titus O'Neill will ever even get considered for the I-C or US belts.

Unfortunately,as far as Young and O'Neil are concerned,I think you're right.

They ran a gay wedding angle with Billy and and Chuck back in 2002 which got a lot of positive feedback from the mainstream media, then it turned out they weren't gay at all and the media really crucified Vince. He simply can't afford to do anything controversial at the moment because bad press leads to loss of sponsors.
