Why?
would they try through the courts to get the rights back for the old programmes Dave are showing? that is what I was thinking about!!
But better still would Dave be interested in making Top Gear itself?
And will Clarkson now quit his column in the Sun?
Dave do some original programming but I reckon they would struggle to match what the trio were paid by the BBC.

A ball-park figure of about.... none, I would think.
^ That's what I was thinking. You'd need to wait until the office opens again at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning.

I repeat ... Why?

Depending which reports you read, the TOP Gear franchise makes perhaps £50mil, maybe more for the BBC each year. They have now effectively killed the franchise, even if they try to continue it with new presenters, or re-invent it completely, it seems unlikely to be anywhere near as successful financially. So why shoot themselves in the foot even further by cutting off a good revenue source from Dave's repeats?

As for the TV license boycott, there seem to be quite a few shouting that they will stop paying, but it all sounds very 'man down the pub' stuff. In the cold light of day, I doubt there will be any significant numbers actually following through.
especially as its a criminal offence not to have one and a jailable one at that
Its incredible hearing some of the hysteria. I am a big Clarkson fan but have to say you hit someone and then you are likely to be sacked. A big loss to fans I agree. The hatred generated is equally just as bad. Its funny when you hear stories about people given HIV through malpractice by the NHS that the very same people shouting for Clarksons head are not demanding the sacking of the medical staff who are guilty of handing out a virtual death sentence....or what about the victims of domestic abuse? Shouldn't there be a bigger outcry against the perpetrators. Perspective is an odd thing.

Correct me if I am wrong here; isn't this classed as assult, possibly GBH? Has he been arrested and charged?
A cut lip is hardly GBH.

Assault perhaps, GBH almost certainly not, possibly ABH though, Actual Bodily Harm.

Apparently the local plod are looking into the matter, but it hardly seems to warrant any charges, I'm sure both they and the courts have more important things to deal with.
