Only in the same way that some people claimed Thatcher was the new Churchill Rolleyes

The problem is that at some stage the show got out of control, possibly around the time of Hammond's near-death crash, and when the challenges suddenly started becoming bigger than the ordinary show.
never realised hammond had the kahunas for this ,im shittin myself just watching,10/10 mr hammond for being ballsy
There's something about "we're going to recreate an iconic stunt... in a totally different place". Good show, though, fairly sane for a change.
I have to say i enjoyed last night's show, the stunt that Hammond took part in looked properly scary and it was good to see Clarkson testing a very different type of car to the ones he normally does.
OMG that was almost a car show! The Landy stunt was great one of the best on the programme. Clarkson's driving style would never have that Beemer getting a good MPG.
i8 owners are reporting similar fuel consumption figures....

BMW have pulled the same stunt that Toyota did with the Prius. The economy figures were obtained under highly controlled (as in completely unrealistic) conditions in order to boost the car's green credentials. Toyota originally claimed it would do 60mpg while most owners have struggled to get any more than 40.

The 3rd gen Prius was even more deceitful, with the on board computer claiming 10-12% better fuel economy than the car was actually capable of!
watched it on bbc2 this evening and thought it was a very good episode. very good moment especially when margot Robbie upstaged will smith in the star in a reasonably priced car Smile
I would say if the i8 does take off, BMW needs to need to come up with a solution to bring the MPG up to what they claim it can do. I would say it is a step forward for hybrids but I think if anything we are still a long way a truly 100% green car!!
