I'm old enough to remember watching William Woollard showing us proper cars that you could actually afford or Noel Edmonds testing out a decent car for your pocket but after that it changed bringing in Jeremy Clarkson. After that it changed again and became a sort Last of the Summer Wine and cars, cars that you had no chance of ever owning or being able to own, and then it became the entertainment show that conquered the world-who knew?
I'm losing interest in the show again, as much as I like Matt, Chris and Rory, it feels like a wind down. Maybe they're doing that so that the next change will seem like something fresh and exciting, but I'm not even bothering watching it on Sunday, it's now getting recorded and watched whenever, which for me, is a bad sign. If I don't want to watch something on the day or as soon as possible, then I sometimes end up where I just don't bother.
Buying an old Bentley for £6k and then putting a brand new engine in it, it's not a £6k car any more is it?

Misleading figure anyway ;The Sandero starts at £6995, I'd call that £7k. But what's a thousand pounds to them? Stick it on my BBC expenses account.

Well, evoking the £7k tag might remind even slow viewers that the "can you buy better than the 7-grand Nissan Pixo? eg a Bentley, a Merc etc" was one of the better skits the previous-but-one team did.
It's got to the stage rehashing previous ideas is almost unavoidable. But as long as they make a good job of it, it's ok.
I really enjoyed that piece, especially the race. I was really rooting for Matt at the end.
And showing they had a team of mechanics working on the cars did make the whole thing feel genuine.
The three-way banter makes a big difference, though. That's mostly where the tuk-tuk film fell down.
Seems like they're doing some actual reviews tonight. Must be the end of the series, then Wink
Quite a lot, in fact. Also a glimpse of the new order... maybe back in the Autumn?
New series of Top Gear returns to BBC2 but so far no date been seen. Now that Matt Le Blanc has departed the line up will now be Chris Harris(from that series) Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff(ex England cricketer) and Paddy McGuinness(late of some really crap game shows and Phoenix Nights actor) Whether this new series will catch on with the public like the last one remains to be seen and also if people in other countries will take to these new presenters. Judging by the trailer they will still be arsing about and playing pranks on each other. We shall see.
Yeah, I saw a trail which included this, surprised it's back so soon really. Maybe they felt that would make the changeover better.
good opening episode from the new line up,promising start and looks like the chemistry could be right between freddie, paddy and chris, looking forward to the rest of the series
