Chelsea statement on Paris Metro incident

"Chelsea Football Club is suspending 3 people from entry to Stamford Bridge as a result of investigations into the incident on the Paris Metro on Tuesday evening.

If it is deemed there is sufficient evidence of their involvement in the incident, the club will issue banning orders for life.

We have received substantial information on the incident and are grateful to the many Chelsea supporters who have provided information so far."
Further statement:

"Chelsea Football Club has suspended a further 2 people from Stamford Bridge as a result of ongoing investigations into the incident on the Paris Metro on Tuesday evening. This makes a total of 5 to date.

We are grateful to the many Chelsea supporters and others who have provided us with information."
I have to say as a neutral what a totally disrgraceful tackle on Matic yesterday. He was lucky not to have had his leg broken. While he had to be sent off, you can understand his actions afterwards as this incident could have been career ending.
Part of a referees responsibility is to protect players from dirty attacks like that. The fact the referee failed to take any action other than to send off Matic for retaliation suggests he should be suspended pending a review of his refereeing performance.

I heard Keith Hackett, formerly the referees assessor, on Talksport this morning and he agreed with this view. He also said that Martin Atkinson's refereeing on Saturday was the worst seen in the Premier League this season.
Minutes 30, 33, 43 and 69

'nuff said.
^shit's been happening to arsenal for years! Smile
No retrospective action to be taken by the FA apparently on the basis the officials saw the Matic incident.
The referee Martin Atkinson will not be refereeing a Premier League game this weekend but will be a fourth official instead at Old Trafford for Man Utd v Sunderland.

Didn't he also say one of the worst ever in the Premier League?

I think it's worth repeating Graham Poll's comment: "A refereeing performance in a Southern Mediterranean or South American country like Martin Atkinson’s at Stamford Bridge on Saturday would have started accusations of corruption."
Chelsea's signed £40m-a-year Yokohama Rubber shirt sponsorship deal.

I believe that they make tyres
