Couldn't Chelsea find another top centre forward? Seems a bit strange drogba must be 35 at least, shouldn't think he would play very often must be to make the numbers up. Unless the Russian is worried about having his billions confiscated by Cameron.

I think the answer is no - because of the financial fair play regulations.
I like the idea of Drogba coming in as an impact sub off the bench.

Say, late on in an away game when Oscar, Hazard and Willian have spent 80 minutes passing it between themselves on the edge of the box without getting a shot on target for the forest of defenders that are parked in front of the goal. A hungry Drogba with fresh legs could make a real difference in that situation.
William H Bonney, yeah forgot it is this coming season the financial fair play rules start. I suspose if drogba stays fit, wonder if he's on a contract where he only gets paid on how many times he plays? Just a thought.
I think he's coming in for his influence in the dressing room more than anything. Mourinho spoke much last season how we lacked a killer instinct/winning mentality and thus lost any hope of winning the title by dropping points vs. the likes of Sunderland and Norwich.

At the moment he's the 4th choice striker (Costa, Torres, Lukaku) so won't get much playing time, but will hopefully make an impression on Costa, Lukaku, Oscar, Hazard etc.
Everton have agreed a transfer fee of £28m for Romelu Lukaku. Ryan Bertrand also leaves Chelsea today, joining Southampton on loan until the end of the season.
Chelsea still have too big a squad, even with those departures. There must be more players in line for a move surely?

Chelsea only need one player to leave, because we currently have 18 foreign players and both the Premier League rules and the Champions League rules allow no more than 17.
Oriol Romeu has joined Stuttgart on a season-long loan. He recently signed a 3 year contract at Chelsea, but has nevertheless been loaned out for a second consecutive season, having spent the last year at Valencia.
Didier Drogba has announced his retirement from international football. He played for Ivory Coast for 12 years and was captain for 8 years, appearing in 3 World Cups and 2 African Nations Cups. He finishes his international career on 104 caps and 64 goals.
