Repeat of 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
One with John Cooper Clarke judging the panel's poems where they all collapse in hysterics over Joe Wilkinson's ode about naming the penises of random strangers in a public toilet , with its repeated refrain: "...you're welcome, I just named your penis"
Einsatzgruppen - Nazi Death Squads
2009 directed by Michael Prazan for French TV shown on PBS America.
The Einsatzgruppen were four units which operated in Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and other territories captured by the Germans in Operation Barbarossa from 1941-43 before the death camps came into operation. Their purpose was to kill mainly jews but also gypsies, partisans, asylum inmates etc. About 1.5 million people were killed mainly by shooting and the killings were mostly carried out not by the invaders but by their collaborators in the captured territories.
This is a three hour programme in four parts and consists of eyewiness and survivor accounts with new photographs and other material uncovered by the production team. The testimonies are put into context by expert historians who deliver their commentary in a matter of fact way which somehow just adds to the horror of what we are hearing and seeing.
This is extremely grim viewing and I really didn't want to watch it but you feel like you owe it to the victims to understand what happened to them.
McDonald & Dodds.
Quirky whodunnit in the mould of Death in Paradise.

I hope they do some more
