The Medici - Makers of Modern Art
This repeat from 2008 (!) saw Andrew Graham-Dixon relate the story of how a famous Florentine family made big money from money-lending, then used art patronage to evade eternal damnation. One amusing sideline was AGD chatting to the locals in Italian - so many docs have English folk talking English and getting subtitled answers back (eg Chris Tarrant) - AGD's fluency was all the more impressive.
Supernatural Ep 1 “Pilot” Season 1
After watching the 300th Ep I had to go back and watch the pilot again after so many years the actors look so young. Actress Adrianne Palicki plays Sam Winchester’s girlfriend she’s been in Smallville, agent of shield and currently The Oriville as Kelly.
Secret Scotland with Susan Calman
Yet another "celebrity round Britain" series, this time purportedly claiming to visit lesser-known bits of Caledonia, and thus getting off to a bad start by doing a piece on the friggin' Noonday gun at Edinburgh Castle, which even lost jungle tribes with no telly have probably seen before half a dozen times...
The Orville Ep 5 “All The World is Birthday Cake” Season 2
(03-02-2019 22:23 )Doddle Wrote: [ -> ]Great British Car Journeys, 1 of 3
Channel 4 hustling in on 5's pitch, with celebs poncing around Britain. Here, Peter Davison & Christopher Timothy drive a vintage car from Inverness to Skye, via Loch Ness. Amusingly, Timothy seems to have some kind of mobility problems before they even start, and their car doesn't help matters.
GBCJ, 2 of 3
From Hounslow to Land's End this week. This journey was recreating a childhood trip for Peter. Peter passed his Driving Test first time, Chris didn't. On the other hand, Chris is a believer in King Arthur whilst Peter isn't.
Finished season 1 of Disenchanted (Netflix), very funny to me and I would highly recommend.
If anyone is a fan of the Simpsons and Futurama you will enjoy.
The Punisher S2 Ep 1 - 13;
John Bernthal dusts down the skull emblazened punisher vest & reprises his role as Frank Castle/The Punisher for Series 2 which is set several months after the ending of Series 1.Poor old Frank just wants a quiet life drinking alone in a country & western themed bar in Michigan but trouble seems to follow him like a moth to a flame when he stumbles across a troublesome & gobby teenager who is on the run from not only Russian gangsters but a cult headed by a strange character John Pilgrim.Pilgrim may seem like a religious man by the way he dresses & preaches paragraphs from the Bible but this is all a ruse as what's underneath is a cold-blooded killer who likes indulging in a spot of sadomasochism on to others & himself (kinky bugger).Not only is Pilgrim & his flock & Russian gangsters looking to put Frank into the ground they are joined by Frank's former best-friend & compatriot in the Marine Corp now worst enemy Billy Russo who somehow mangaged to survive his brutal encounter with Frank in Series 1 vowing revenge.But gentlemen to take on Frank your going to need a bigger army than that.
Another great series & fingers crossed for a Season 3.
Arrow Ep 13 “Star City Slayer” Season 7
A must see Ep especially with the villain and big ending reveal and a goodbye. Think of the Ep as thriller/horror and mini crossover.
Don McCullin - Searching for England
83 year old photographer looks back on a 60 year career, revisiting some old haunts where he's taken his photos, like Brick Lane, London, or Bradford and Scarborough. He spent a while at some hunt meeting, and seemed a bit put out that the saboteurs wouldn't deign to give him an interview.
Lazy Boy Garage on Dave.
Three men in a rural garage buy old wrecks over the internet, do them up and auction them off. It's like Wheeler Dealers without any of the technical stuff. Rather too simplistic. Also, it sounds like they have Cathy Barry doing the narration.
