It not just escorts that get STIs, you could get it from a one night-stand or long term partner. My rule of thimb is, if they do bare back or allow CIM, then they are higher risk of STIs. No if they have rules where bodily fluids get exchanged, then there is a lesser risk of STIs. Now this is not 100%, nothing is, I wouldn't say it 80%. But the few escorts I have been with, I know they have get tested for STIs regularly and if they had anything, they would cancel.
Best way to prevent STI's is a cold shower.

Why do you say deluded? They can make good money escorting, you don't have to be desperate crack whore to become hookers you know.
'Turn' to escorting suggests it's a last resort? The majority of top US pornstars do it/have done it, so I don't see why it's so far fetched that comparative unknowns like TJ and Anna would do it.
