Christian Kist was the player of the tournament from start to finish and produced some excellent darts. A very unflappable character who I think could have a very fine career.
Kist came across as more personable than Jelle Klaasen or Michael van Gerwen ever did (though they may have improved this since their brief BDO days)

I wouldn't say they have improved much at all to be honest. You rarely hear of Klassen and MvG. Certainly on the TV tournaments they get KO'd early on. I'm not sure how they fair on the floor tournaments but they haven't set the world of PDC darts a light.

With all due respect to the BDO, the standard is pretty poor in comparison to the PDC. It is basically just a breeding ground for the PDC which is fine, it is still a decent tournament and organisation, it's just one a player gets to a certain standard the PDC seem to offer them a contract and off they go.
phil the power taylor talked ted the count hankey into joining pdc.

what would help the bdo is if they had another televised darts comp.
...and gave their players more rewarding pay packets. Unfortunately money talks and that is the sole reason the ex BDO players all flock to the PDC, and the reason the PDC came about in the first place.

I think they now show the world masters on BBC, can't remember when it is on though.
Really sad news that Jocky Wilson has succumbed to his lung illness. He won the World Championship twice and was one of the men who made darts such a popular TV sport. RIP Jocky.
R.I.P Jocky on the Oche.
Another sports personality from my youth sadly passed
Aw Sad RIP
Darts Legend Jocky Wilson Dies.

When darts on TV was GOOD because of the darts players, and not relying on the audience.
