Not the final I would have expected beforehand, but all credit to Rob Cross for writing his own story (I note the news today calling it an upset to have beaten such a former multiple champion, rather than the conqueror of van Gerwen proving himself twice). Taylor's whole shtick was a cheap stunt gimmick. At least when Stephen Hendry packed up, he didn't give himself an enormous farewell tour to boot.
The BDO championship is underway today (on channel 4). First match is ongoing. Martin Adams vs BDO World No.1 Mark McGeeney. Poor quality match, unfortunately. But it's gone to a final set decider.
That Welsh chap Nick Kenny needs to give his uncle his "lucky" watch back
Christ - I thought the women's draw was supposed to be the strongest ever this year. They are the shits!!!
Christ have they Sex Tested that dutch one Prins looks like a man
I always find it odd with the BDO that people you might expect to be higher seeds are often not even seeded and so you get two strangers in one match, then Waites v Montgomery at the last, with #5 seed "Ross the Boss" living up to the fact that he's not to my recollection made any impact in all the years I've watched, and getting done over by Waites, a 2x world champ.
I see Fallon Sherrock won though.
^The bigger name's in the BDO tend to devote more time to the higher paying exhibition events instead of the little tournaments in Cleethorpes or Grimsby or Chernobyl etc. So the career duds - like Montgomery, Wesley Harms, and Geert De Vos are all highly seeded, and the recognisable names aren't - except Durrant, of course, but as defending champion he's automatically seeded no.1. Hopefully Duzza wins it again and then goes to the PDC. He's ready.
Yeah, it does jar that guys are introduced as having won all sorts of tournaments that you'll have never heard of because this one is about all the coverage the BDO get.
I hope Durrant goes too, and Scott Mitchell can take a long walk off a short pier too for all I care
