Gary Anderson beat Peter Wright to become top CLOD after the Champions League of Darts, as screened on BBC2.
James Wade beat Simon Whitlock to win the European Champiosnhip as shown on ITV4, his first big win since 2011. Apparently his hot wife gave birth 2-3 weeks ago too Tongue MvG had won it from 2014-7, and Whitlock also finished runner-up in 2013.
The BDO have FINALLY arranged a deal with a TV broadcaster to screen the Lakeside in January 2019. With less than 9 weeks to go. The BDO World Championship will be on Eurosport, and - apparently - Quest too. All they need now is to make a first-round draw.

But, it would seem, there will be no terrestrial showing of the Lakeside for the first time in decades. Doesn't feel right.
Presumably Colin Murray was the power-broker. Can't abide him.
I was most disappointed that the Lakeside wasn't featured on the BBC this year and I am hoping someone sees sense and brings it back. I think SKY have ruined it and all these stupid gimmicks and even stupider names these players have are just making it a mockery IMO. I long for the good old days with proper names, none of this idiotic walk-on crap and proper darts being shown at a sensible time and good commentary from the likes of Sid Waddell and Tony Green. I've always watched the BBC's coverage of the darts and losing it to SKY was a bad move. Also who is that growling idiot who yells out the scores-he looks a right bruiser but his voice sounds like someone cut this throat!
I thought the pro-celebrity crap they did for Sport Relief was an embarrassment. Yes, the BDO is little league but there are ways to finesse this, and the BBC never seem to want to.

I still remember starting to follow the Lakeside stuff at the start of 1995, and most years thereafter. In all honesty, the BBC didn't show a whole lot of "commitment" by screening a staggering 1 tournament per year (it seemed).
Quest is on Freeview so some of it will be on terrestrial tv just as it was when BBC and BT Sports? shared it for the last couple of years

BBC gave up on BDO when they started showing Champion League of Darts tournament which is a PDC dart event

I had wondered given Freesports have started showing some of the BDO events on their channel whether they might have taken over showing the BDO World Championship

Quote:After being blown away by 47-year-old Anderson, Harms kicked up a stink, accusing the Scot of leaving a "fragrant smell".

The 34-year-old told Dutch TV station RTL7L: "It'll take me two nights to lose this smell from my nose."

World number four Anderson let rip when he heard the accusation, saying the smell had definitely come "from the table side" at the Aldersley Leisure Village.

"If the boy thinks I've farted he's 1,010% wrong. I swear on my children's lives that it was not my fault," he said.
Ghost of Bristow/Waddell/Jocky Wilson, pick your own choice.
