Yeah, the PDC has exclusive dibs on ITV darts coverage. So no chance there. Channel 4 or Channel 5 are the only FTA possibilities. As for the standard between the PDC & BDO- yes, the PDC is of a FAR higher quality, but bear in mind, almost ALL the PDC players have moved FROM the BDO.
at the moment bt and bbc share the rights. would channel 4 or 5 give up 3-4hours of tv to broadcast the afternoon sessions and final which the bbc have the rights.
So BBC only have the afternoon sessions and highlights of the evening sessions on BBC 2 later on in the night BT Sport has the evening sessions what a load of shite !!!

bbc show the first semi final and womens final, the final is shared between the two.
last years final got 2.5m viewers on bbc, how manmy watch the itv4 coverage?
the French tennis open organisers were annoyed by the bbc for putting in on the red button with only murray matches, the semis and finals on bbc2 so they signed a deal with itv and itv stick it on itv4 with semis and finals on itv.
I do agree that bdo world championship needs updating but still have the charm it has. I think bdo on the bbc introduced darts to a lot of people but the pdc could do the same if it was on bbc or shown on itv not itv4. the pdc world championship on sky sports will not get the viewing figures that the bdo gets has not many people will have access to sky sports or if they did may not choose to have the darts channel. the same happened to cricket being on bbc/channel 4 it drew kids especially in 2005/06 with the ashes on channel 4 where the final day of the oval test got 7.5m viewers, now we are talking hundreds of thousands not millions.
rant over, will be watching the bdo tomorrow and the rest of week when I can.
