The premiere of The Flash rating's has beaten Arrow's season 1 ratings and has set the highest premiere for CW in nearly 5 years. If it wasn't for shows like Smallville which ran for ten years then we wouldn't be getting wonderful shows like Arrow and The Flash, what a great start .

I highly recommend reading the two following graphic novels which give you a taste you how the show will be the first is Flashpoint which involves the Reverse Flash and time travel and pretty much what started the DC 52 reboot and other graphic novel is Flash Rebirth written by Geoff Johns who's also helping with The Flash series too.

Actor Andy Mientus will be joining the cast of The Flash he openly gay villain Pied Piper he will seek revenge on his former mentor, Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) by trying to destroy The Flash. All this happens because he loses his hearing during the particle accelerator explosion which created The Flash hence why he wants revenge. Pied Piper and Alan Scott (Green Lantern in Earth 2) are only the few of openly gay characters in the DC universe.
Also actor Victor Garber will be joining the cast of The Flash and will be playing the other half of Firestorm the other half will be played by Robbie Amell who plays Ronnie Raymond(also the fiance of Caitlin Snow). Accident happens fusing the two characters together forming Firestorm just like how it was in the comics.
Victor Garber won't be appearing until ep 12 and Robbie Amell makes his first appearance in Ep 3.
