Its not been officially confirmed yet but if it is true then I would see Mourinho as one of the strongest candidates. Ferguson and Mourinho have become quite good friends over the last few years and have a lot of respect for each other. A very tough act to follow with that record though and the media intensity will be extreme when the new season starts.
now officially confirmed SIR ALEX FERGUSON IS RETIRING AT THE END OF THE SEASON!!!! man utd just announced it. end of an era for English football and man utd

i don't know what the big deal is. what did he really accomplish?
I think it's more likely to do with mourinho's likely availability, yes it's fergie's decision but overall they are probably thinking that they can't miss out to Chelsea

i cant see man utd going for morinho I said this a few months ago no matter how friendly they are and what hes achieved I don't think morinho is loyal enough, he don't stay around at 1 club for long enough. the bets I saw on moyes the other day especially on betfair it made me think theres some insider information about him!
Fantastic manager - one of the greatest of all time without question and this is coming from a LFC fan. He'll certainly leave a big void in the footballing world. Easy to say Mourinho will get the job but I reckon it'll be Moyes.
Good riddance. Fluked his whole career. Should take his wife beating son with him.

Just looking at the odds mate, he's 4/11 favourite for the job and Mourinho's on the drift. The blues always knew he'd end up there.
