The problem is that there is no doctors and nurses to staff them. So, it is pointless window dressing.

Planned operations and procedures will get cancelled. Some are already being cancelled because the patients can't be PCR tested in advance, due to shortages of the tests. That's where the extra staff came from last time.
Just back from a short holiday.

I spent more on COVID tests than I did on flights. It’s like a health care system run by Ryanair!
Have requested online and received a collect code to get a pack of lateral flow tests, but none of the two collect sites - local pharmacy or local library - have any due to "manufacturing delays".

Have instead scheduled a lateral test appointment (I have no symptoms) for later today, 2.45. I thought it best to check if I'm supposed to be out tonight. I scheduled it online - the 119 phone service is so clunky - some of the options are irrelevant and I didn't feel like I was getting anywhere. It must take ages to actually speak to someone.
Boris: Britain is in a better position than it was at the end of 2020, after a South Africa official says that the fourth wave has passed after a dip in infections.

NHS chief: 'government needs to be ready to introduce tighter restrictions at real speed'

I will take the health chief all day long!!
Genuinely though, you act before the situation becomes so bad that the NHS is in a strait jacket, and having to make priority decisions they didn't need too make had any action necessary been implemented sooner!

It is an insult for those that have not got the first idea of the pressures - lack of capacity wriggle room - at the best of times (I do), let alone in the current environment, to adopt a 'they will cope' attitude!! That says to the DR's,
Nurses etc (particularly the nurses) stress what stress ptsd what ptsd?? We don't give a shit because the political optics is all we are about!! The CRG should be called out on this (and much more). If their response is(I fear given the arrogance/ignorance of the leading suspects - it might be). You chose to be a Dr/Nurse....nobody forced you......screw you suck it up in effect, then they should be hounded and harassed <------------(not abused that is not what I mean)

I know what I would have to say, but others have been too damn easy on them!!

So telling them to prepare Hospital wards in carparks and increase Morturary spaces but not putting in public health things in place to stop them being needed

get a feeling let the bodys pile high strategy is Boris's strategy for the next few months

Agree with that last part, he knows his time is up, backbenchers not supporting him, pressure from certain aspects of the media etc, he is going to keep doing what he is doing.
No fcks given by him now.
